Bits and Pieces

-Ladies Golf:  Six way tie at three under par at the top after 72 holes down in Australia.  The Open was finally decided on the second hole when teenager and 2nd year pro Jessica Korda sank a 25 foot birdie putt.  The ones who made the playoff:  Stacy Lewis, Brittany Lincicome (who missed a three foot birdie putt on the first extra hole), Julieta Granada, So Yeon Rhu and Hee Kyung Seo.  #1 Yani Tseng got a triple bogey on the fourth hole of her final round and finished two strokes out of the playoff; that fourth hole plus the quadruple bogey on hole #7 in the second round prevented her from winning the tournament in convincing fashion.  The amateur youngster, Lydia Ko, finished six back and tied for 19th place.  Lexi Thompson, the professional youngster, finished nine back and tied for 24th.  Next for the ladies:  The Honda LPGA Thailand 2012 in Chonburi, Thailand.  Last year winner - Yani Tseng by five strokes over Michelle Wie.

-The Big Boys go their final round out at Pebble Beach today.  Charlie Wi, who played with Tiger Woods as  a youngster, even beating him once in college, leads the tournament by three strokes over Ken Duke and by four over TW.  Looks like they are pairing Tiger up with Phil Mickelson this afternoon; Phil starts the day six back of the leader and tied for 4th.  Go Tiger.

-The #2 ranked Notre Dame women's basketball team (24-1) host West Virginia (17-6) later today at 3:30.

-No local golf today.  Can't say I'm enjoying the break we're getting.  Am looking forward to those 45-50 degree days.  Looks like they will return the end of this week.

-Time for breakfast.
