Bits and Pieces

-In Singapore at the HSBC Women's Champions tournament:  Angela Stanford won a four way playoff by rolling in a par putt on the third extra hole (#18 was used each time).  Jenny Shin, who double bogeyed the final hole to fall into the playoff, saw her three footer lip out to give the win to Stanford.  Shanshan Feng three putted on the first extra hole to drop out of contention while Na Yeon Choi missed a three foot par putt on the second hole to drop from contention as well.  Yani Tseng failed to make the playoff after tying for the lead after the first nine holes of fourth round play.   The Wie Lass shot a second straight 75 to finish at +22 for the tournament and in 59th place.

-Irish women beat South Florida, 80-68, but again struggle to do so.  Committed 22 turnovers, four more than against Louisville last Monday, and actually lost the lead early in the second half after being held scoreless by USF for five minutes.  Natalie Novosel led all scorers with 32 points.  Skylar Diggins had 18.  Irish clinched a share of the Big East title with their win and can win it outright with a victory at UCON Monday night.  Irish men lost at St. Johns, 61-58, yesterday.  They missed a last second three pointer to tie.

-At Dove Mountain: Mahan up 2 over Wilson through 10 and McIlroy up 1 on Westwood in the semis.  Winners go at each other later today for the championship.

-Looked like bumper cars down in Daytona yesterday (or is that just normal NASCAR?).  Glad that Indy beauty, Danica Patrick, wasn't hurt in her crash.

-At Lakeview later today:  Will open the course just after noon.  Playing with Doug, Dave, Short, Travis and Nick at one.  Sunny and windy with temps over 50.  Just about perfect especially for late February.
