Bits and Pieces

-Irish women win convincingly at UCON last night, 72-59.  With the win the Domers win the Big East title all by themselves for the first time and take down the Huskies for the third straight time (somthing that doesn't happen very often to this team that has dominated ladies' basketball for the last seems-like-forever).  Natalie Novosel had 21 points and Skylar Diggins had 20 in the victory.  (Story here from the South Bend Tribune.)  The Notre Dame men did not fair as well as the women, losing to Georgetown rather convincingly, 59-41.  Ouch.

-Boys sectional play starts tonight at Odon with WC Cardinals playing BR Vikings in the early game and VR taking on the host Cougars in the second game.  Loogootee and Shoals await the victors (I'm predicting Barr-Reeve and North Daviess) for a Friday night date.

-Did you see that the Northeast Dubois Jeeps are heading to the state finals in girls basketball?  They will be taking on the Fort Wayne Canterbury girls up at Terre Haute at 10:30 this Saturday.  Go Jeeps but I don't think they have a prayer against the Canterbury team who have had double digit wins on their march to the finals.  They have also won the title in three of the last four years, stepping aside last year for the Vincennes Rivet Patriots. (Bracket)

-Scramble at 4 this afternoon.  Looks like we're going to be warm and dry till well into the night and I'm not going up to the sectionals.  So why not play some golf?  See some of you tonight.
