Changes!

After Mike/Dad passed last year Diane/Mom and I had plenty to reflect about concerning the golf course. Golf was one of Dad's greatest passions; he loved playing it and enjoyed trying to make it fun for Lakeview golfers. Without him Mom and I would never have become involved in taking care of the course. Over the past few years Mom reduced her responsibilities so that she could focus on other interests. So now that leaves me.

While not wanting to be the sole manager, I thought that there may be some way that I could still work at the golf course (which I enjoy), but transfer the administrative task back to West Boggs Park. The park owns the golf course, which we were leasing on a revolving contract begun in 1998. Park Superintendent Mike Axsom and the Park Board (made up of community members from both Daviess and Martin Counties) were very receptive to that idea, which was one of the scenarios they themselves had thought of when discussing the future of the golf course.

As a result, on March 1, I begin working for West Boggs Park as golf course manager. I expect all the previous employees (who are at least 18 years old) to return, although they will need to apply through the park. I look forward to working with some new colleagues and working for the same golfers, you.

I am excited most about the possibilities for the golf course because of the resources that the park brings in equipment, labor and brain power. Hopefully these changes will only make your experience at the golf course better.

If you have any questions please email me at golflakeview@gmail.com or call the golf course (812)295-5678. Thanks!
