History Lesson

Tuesday Men's League History: Five years ago today, Abe Knepp, Jim Murphy and Murray Stuckey had the low net rounds with a 29 and two 30's. Doug Denson and Dave Wininger had 34's and Phil Eyler and Terry Padgett had 36's to lead in low gross. Wayne Souerdike was leading the Individual competition with Junior Byron in second place; and in the Team competition, Byron and Drake were up three points on Potts and Potts. Weather was cloudy and cool with a high in the 60's.

Tuesday Men Memorial Week

I see the weather people are calling for a 'few showers' till 3pm then just plain old 'showers' after that. Well, hope it doesn't materialize till after dark and the Tuesday Men show does go on. Mother Nature has been very good to the Tuesday bunch so far this year - bless her.

Five years ago in Tuesday Men: Leaders in Individual Competition: Greg Potts, closely followed by Wayne Souerdike, Junior Byron and Mark Potts. Team Competition: Potts and Potts had a three point lead on Atkison and Voegerl. Terry Butcher had low gross with a 35 with 9 pars on his scorecard; Junior Byron shot a 36 for second low. Skip Ackerman had the low net with a 28 (37 gross) with Junior coming in second again with a net 30; Terry Butcher, Murray Stuckey and Jim Murphy had net 31's. Weather was partly sunny with a high of 81.

Back here in 2008, it's about time to start thinking about which A player will get to the magical zero handicap first. Dave Wininger is sitting close with a one this week while Doug Denson, Phil Eyler, James Hager and Trenton Kidwell all have twos; super sub Mark Potts is beyond the zero mark with his gaudy +2 handicap.

Leaders as we go into today's play: Sutton and Courter in the team competition and Dave Wininger is up on James Hager by a slim four points in the Individual standings. Today is also week two of the Individual Handicapped Tournament. Noah Callahan is on top with his gaudy net 27 last Tuesday; Tim Voegerl sits in second place at 29.

Eric and Junior have the course looking lovely and the ball is actually starting to roll a bit in the fairways. If the rains hold off, guess we should see some good golfing today.

Tuesday Men Five Years Ago...

Five years ago today, in Individual competition, Greg Potts was on top with Mark Potts right behind him. Not surprisingly, they also led the Team competition with a slight lead over Joe Allen and John Foddrill. Brent Courter had the low net with a 28 and was followed by Shannon Bratton and Blake Stewart, both with 30's. Dave Wininger shot a 33 (wow!) for the low gross and was followed by Shannon Bratton, John Walker and Greg Potts with 37's. Warren Atkison dragged in the caboose with a 56 (ouch). Average gross for the day was 43.89.

Tuesday Men - Another Chance for Glory

Looks like another good day for golf for the Tuesday Men. A little wet on the course what with the four inches of rain we had Thursday through Sunday - makes the greens soft and receptive but the fairways are the same - no bump and run today unless you hit the cart paths.

Five years ago in the Tuesday league, Mark Potts led the Individual competition with Tim Voegerl and Warren Atkison ahead in the Team. Dave Wininger shot a 35 and Shannon Bratton, Mark Potts, Mark Jeffers and Phil Eyler shot 37's. Joe Allen had a net 29 and Shannon Bratton a net 30. Average gross score for the day was 44.56. Weather was sunny and mild with temperatures ranging from the 70's to the 50's. (Do things change much?)
