TMPL Event 14 Recap

In the TMPL's July tournament, Ed Summers and Dane Mosby go into the final week with 19.5 points, a 2.5 point lead over Pam Byron and Patty Bowling and a 4.5 point stretch over the teams of Mike Anderson and Al Kavanaugh, and Jack Butcher and Rex Hudson.  In Thursday's play, Summers shot the low gross round of the day with a 36 as he and Mosby beat Tony Wease and Charlie Sheetz 11-3.  That moved them up into third place in the regular season team standings which saw the Byron/Bowling team, a 12.5 to 1.5 winner in their match with Vic Wallace and Phil Roberts, recapture first place.  Byron and Bowling had the low net team score at 63 as Pam shot the low net round, a 27.  In the individual competition, Dick Lemmon, with a net 33 and 38 points for his day's efforts, held onto the top spot at 492 points.  Mike McLaughlin, after shooting a net 32 and getting 45 points for his efforts, sits in second place just seven points back.  Sharp shooting hole prizes for the day went to Rex Hudson and John Chapman for close to the pin shots while Tony Wease claimed the longest putt at #8.  The group's average gross score dropped to a season's low at 44.03, a full stroke better than the previous week's average.
