Tuesday Men - Come on Down!
Just got back from the golf course - Eric and Lucas are scurrying around cutting grass and watering. I was out there to put out hole prize markers and deliver some keys. Catching up - we were in South Bend the last two days putting my dad in the ground.
So, who's going to have the hot stick this week? Mark Potts is out there now playing his round, looking for a 30. Last week, he shot a 32 in both the Tuesday Men's League and the Community League, and was on the winning Saturday scramble team. A good week for him. But there were others who did well. James Hager, Derek Gilbertson, Keith Parsons, Curt Johnson and Bric Parker to mention a few. Note: Fifty-five of the sixty-eight players came in at net par or better last week (both gross and net scoring averages dropped by a stroke and a half), an indication that their games are rounding into shape, handicaps finally caught up with skill levels, weather and the grounds proved favorable, or the planets were aligned just right. And were you aware of the completely different conditions Tuesday brought us last week? Early players had plenty of sun and warmth while the later players had roiling thunder clouds and the possibility of rain ever present - it eventually did catch up with the last few players. So, today's another day to pack up your clubs and head on down to Lakeview and do some shining. Btw - still looking for that first league hole-in-one of the season.

Catch up
Been away for the last two days but did see that Tiger did very well at Jack's place on Sunday, shot a 65 that included two super approach shots on the last two holes and walked away with a one stroke win over Jim Furyk. Michelle Wie shot a one under on the four holes that gave her fits on Saturday, three under for the day and finished at 54 in the State Farm Classic.

Tiger and Michelle Watch
Tiger Woods, although four back of the leader, is still in it over at Jack's place in Ohio while Michelle Wie closed her round yesterday afternoon by dropping five shots with three bogeys and a double. Ouch.

Senior League
Junior Byron combined a hole prize, a low gross of the day at 35, and enough points earned to jump over Rex Hudson and take control of the top spot in individual competition. Richard Swayze and Mike Bird remained on top in the team competition, posting a 10 to 4 win over their match play competitiors, Virgil Harper and Gary LaMar. Virgil and Gary had some fireworks of their own with Virgil claiming a hole prize with a long putt at hole six; Gary punched his approch shot at #2 into the cup for a rare eagle in the Senior League. Low net scores for the day were posted by Patty Bowling at eight under par to lead in individual play, with Junior Byron and Diane Bird each posting five under rounds to come in second. The low net for team was a tie at 65 between the team of Ray Shaw and Dave Brown, and the team of Ken Hudson and Carroll Rayhill. Other sharpshooters on the day were Jack Butcher on #8 and Jack Lents on #9.

The Tuesday Men had to contend with stormy but mostly dry skies during their league competition. At the end of play, new leaders emerged in both competitions: Joe Allen and Mike Kidwell vaulted to the top in team competition while Bric Parker, continuing his fine play with his new set of clubs, took over the top spot from Tony Wease in individual competition. Other highlights include a low gross score of 32 fired by Mark Potts and 34's by both James Hager and Derek Gilbertson. Keith Parsons shot a very low 27 to lead in the net category. Low net team for the week was Curt Johnson and Bric Parker. They combined for a 59, the second straight week that they have had sub-60 rounds. Hole prizes were claimed by Tracy Rayhill, Skip Ackerman and Derek Gilbertson in close to the pin shots; Joe Allen, Kyle Jones and Scott Arthur had long putts.
