Lakeview Golf Course News

Potts, Kidwell, Callahan and Parker Win Saturday Scramble

Two of Lakeview's longest hitters, Mark Potts and Tyler Kidwell, joined forces with Noah Callahan and Bric Parker to fire a nifty eight under par in the Saturday nine- hole scramble at Lakeview Golf Course. The score came on the strength of two eagles, on holes two and four, and four birdies. That gave the team a one-stroke win over Josh Butcher, Mike Bird, Larry Hembree and Travis Brett. Two other teams came in at six under to round out the field.

Community League

Week two of Lakeview's summer league is complete. One additional team was added, Ken and Sharon Frye, bringing the total to twenty-five teams and one individual. Highlights for the week include the jump into first place of Ray and Carol Shaw in the team competition. Adam Wagler remains on top in the individual competition. Low net scores for the week were posted by Bill Harder with a super low net of 28; he was closely followed by Cody Yoder with a 29. Bill Harder and Tarry Bratton had the low net score for teams with a very fine score of 61. Mark Potts had the low gross score at 32 while Ken Wagler and Tyson Allbright each posted scores of 36.

Senior League

Junior Byron combined a hole prize, a low gross of the day at 35, and enough points earned to jump over Rex Hudson and take control of the top spot in individual competition. Richard Swayze and Mike Bird remained on top in the team competition, posting a 10 to 4 win over their match play competitiors, Virgil Harper and Gary LaMar. Virgil and Gary had some fireworks of their own with Virgil claiming a hole prize with a long putt at hole six; Gary punched his approch shot at #2 into the cup for a rare eagle in the Senior League. Low net scores for the day were posted by Patty Bowling at eight under par to lead in individual play, with Junior Byron and Diane Bird each posting five under rounds to come in second. The low net for team was a tie at 65 between the team of Ray Shaw and Dave Brown, and the team of Ken Hudson and Carroll Rayhill. Other sharpshooters on the day were Jack Butcher on #8 and Jack Lents on #9.

Tuesday Men's League

The Tuesday Men had to contend with stormy but mostly dry skies during their league competition. At the end of play, new leaders emerged in both competitions: Joe Allen and Mike Kidwell vaulted to the top in team competition while Bric Parker, continuing his fine play with his new set of clubs, took over the top spot from Tony Wease in individual competition. Other highlights include a low gross score of 32 fired by Mark Potts and 34's by both James Hager and Derek Gilbertson. Keith Parsons shot a very low 27 to lead in the net category. Low net team for the week was Curt Johnson and Bric Parker. They combined for a 59, the second straight week that they have had sub-60 rounds. Hole prizes were claimed by Tracy Rayhill, Skip Ackerman and Derek Gilbertson in close to the pin shots; Joe Allen, Kyle Jones and Scott Arthur had long putts.
