Tuesday Men's League

Several more of the players in the Tuesday Men's League came out to Lakeview yesterday and got their rounds in.  Participants in the league have until next Tuesday to finish up their event 2 and/or event 3 rounds.

Thursday Match Play Recap

With the finish of yesterday's play, the Thursday League got caught up with events 2 and 3 in the books after several changes and delays and postponements brought on by the wet area weather.  Sitting pretty at the top of the standings after three weeks of play is the team of Patty Bowling and Pam Byron.  Patty also leads the individual standings as she has started the year with three rounds well under her handicap.  Frank Fee and John Chapman have also done well and find themselves in second and third place in the standings.  Low scores for event 2 were shot by Patty Bowling with a 28 for low net; Frank Fee's 37 was the low gross.  Patty and Pam Byron had the low net team score, a 66.  For event 3, Lee Wininger tied Patty at three under for the low net while Mike Bird's 38 was the low gross.  Low team score of 69 was turned in by Lee Wininger and Chuck Baker.  Hole prizes for event three were claimed by John Chapman and Al Kavanaugh on the par 3's and by Dick Barber on the longest putt of the day.

The May Team Handicapped Tournament, a four week, thirty-six hole game, got underway with event 3 with Chuck Baker and Lee Wininger's one under score leading the pack.  Tony Wease and Phil Hardwick, filling in for Charlie Sheetz, are in second place with an even par score while Patty Bowling and Pam Byron are in third with a score of plus one.

Complete standings and scores are posted at Lakeview's website.

Thursday Match Play Results Events 2 and 3, Team Tournament Week 1

Results are posted here.

Correction: Patty Bowling...

...had one of the better rounds yesterday, shooting a second straight 48 (not Pam Byron).  Patty did alright today as well, firing a 50.  Both scores would give her a net of several strokes under par.  Watch for our Thursday Match Play update which will include scores and highlights for event 2 and event 3.

Thursday Match Play Event 3

Looks like we get to play a league event without a weather restriction.  We did delay it an hour, from the original 9am start to a 10am start, but that is minor considering what we have had to face the last two weeks.  The event also marks the opening of the tournament season: 1st nine holes of the thirty-six hole team handicapped tournament.

Yesterday many of the Thursday Leaguers were out making up their event 2 round.  Saw a bunch of high scores, including my own, but did notice some good ones as well.  Frank Fee's second straight 37 and Pam Byron's 48, each a net 6 under par, were impressive.  The rest of the crew finish up their event 2 rounds after today's event 3.  Looks like a beautiful May day to play a little golf.
