Senior Flighted Tournament Wrap
The Senior Flighted Tournament had some dominating performances in the final nine holes played this past Thursday. In the most dominant of them all, Pam Byron ran away from Clyde Wake by a full ten strokes on the day to win the F Flight by a score of 111 to 122. JD Faris had a good nine holes at 45 to best his closest competition in the E Flight, Dick Barber, by five strokes on the day and that gave him a come from behind victory, 96 to 100. In the most competitive race, Dave Strange started the day tied with Ray Shaw in D Flight and ended it with a round of 43 , two strokes better than Ray's 45. Final score in D Flight: 90 to 92. In the C Flight, Ken Hudson's round of 42 bested his closest competitiors, brother Rex and Richard Swayze who each shot 44's on the day. Ken won the Flight with a total score of 88 over the 91's posted by Rex and Richard. John Chapman dominated B Flight, firing a super 36 on the day and taking the trophy by nine strokes over second place finisher Jack Butcher, 75 to 84. Mike Bird used consecutive birdies on four, five and six to highlight a second consecutive round of 33 to distance himself from fellow competitiors Junior Byron and Mike Anderson who shot 37's on the day. That gave Mike a final score of 66, a seven stroke advantage over Junior and Mike's 73's. Hole prizes for the event were collected by long putters Jm Bateman and Dave Brown, and by sharpshooters Junior Byron and Mike Bird. A pitch-in lunch followed play.
