Bits and Pieces

-Yesterday was good enough for golf here in Loogootee. The Boys - Jack Lents, Ken Hudson (putting), Dick Lemmon and Jack Butcher went at it. Here the foursome is at #7 where Jack Lents got the flag with the only ball on the green from the tee, and Dick Lemmon got the skin with a nifty eight foot putt for the only par.

-Eric was also out there, seeding the fairways before the Saturday rains.

-Was hoping that those rains would hold off till later today and that we might get a chance for a scramble. But doesn't look like that's going to happen. Rains already here. Dang.

-Loogootee Lion-Forest Park Ranger basketball game last night. The Lions stayed close for three quarters but were thumped by the visitors in the fourth. Final score was 50-38, I think. Left at the end of three and listened to most of the rest of it on the radio with Greg Bateman (he's good, very good...).

-Over in Dubai: One of the LET ladies who is capping her career (because of hip problems) has won the tournament. Iben Tinning finished at elevan under while Michelle Wie came in at five under and in a tie for 6th. Guess the Wie Lass can rest her ailing back and look forward to next year now. (Thinking back to my college days - would have been kind of neat to pack up the books and the clubs and take off for 72 holes of golf on the other side of the world. Would have been a cool break from the usual campus routine.)

-Update: from bankokbobby:
Michelle Wie shot the low round of the day, a clean 5 birdie, no bogey 67, which lifted her into a tie for 6th.

-Time to get up and stretch and do a little walking. Btw, did get a clean bill of health from Dr. Poirier and Company. After the ER run a few weeks back, had a follow up blood draw and an office visit three days later (last Thursday). Cholesterol is a little high but the ratio is below 5; other things look good. So, prescription for staying healthy: eat right, exercise more, think good thoughts, and, of course, play as much golf as you can. Guess it helps to have good company and to laugh a bunch and to have a couple of passions in your life as well.
