Tomorrow's Manager's scramble will be a nine hole event starting at 9 o'clock. Of course, a second nine can be played by those wanting to extend their merriment.
Forgot to mention earlier that Curt and Bric brought to my attention their combined score on #6 yesterday - a sterling 10. You remember that they turned in a 20 (two tens) on the same hole just ten days ago, something that was duly noted by yours truly, my saying something about 'perfect tens'. BTW, Bric remembered, or never forgot, that it was Bo Derek that had that moniker some twenty years ago - was it that long? longer? Just googled it - a 1979 movie with the title 10. That would make it just about thirty years ago. My oh my. Go here for a picture of Bo making like that famous naked lady riding a horse bareback (Lady Godiva).

Tuesday Men Event 6 Results
The results are posted. Highlights:
-Ryan Johnson got an eagle on #4 for what might have been the only good thing that happened in his round of 44.
-Short Jeffers took a quadruple bogey on #4 for an otherwise pretty good round of 39.
-The team of Curt Johnson and Bric Parker had fun on #6, each player taking a double par on the hole – perfect 10’s?
-Jason Rominger and Mike Bird had matching pars through the first six holes then saw their par rounds slip off with three bogeys between the two of them on the last three holes, Jason finding them on #7 and #9, Mike finding one on #8. They teamed up to shoot a net 64 which shared the low net for the day.
-Mike Kidwell played par golf a different way, going bogey, birdie, bogey, birdie on the first four holes; then a par, bogey before parring the last three holes, ending with a 36.
-Weston Muessig bogeyed the first hole then parred out for his sterling 36.
-Dave Wininger, the new leader of the individual competition, had a roller coaster ride, getting two birdies to start his round, then two bogeys, then ending up with pars but for a slip on #8 to end with his 36.
-Noah Callahan had a superb 41 which gave him the low net of the day with a 27.
-Tim Voegerl shot a 42 and netted 29 to come in second in low net.
-Larry Sutton returned from Africa and paired with Mark Anderson to keep the Sutton/Courter team in first place ahead of Padgett and Burris. They turned in scores of 42 and 39.
-Hole prizes went to Terry Butcher on #3, Dan Steiner on #7, Greg Potts on #8, and Mark Anderson on #9.
-Mike Albertson resolved his 's' problem (the 's' word rhymes with 'hank') at least for the time being with a sterling 39 gross and a net 30.
-Low net team scores were turned in by the Albertson/Jones team and the Allen/Rominger team with 64's.
-Average gross of 44.30 was slightly better than last week's 44.52.
Photos up in a bit.

Tuesday Men Event 4 Highlights
Notes I made as golfers finished their rounds and turned in their scorecards
League Highlights
5/6/08 Tuesday Men
-Skip Ackerman eagles #5 with a chip in from below the green; also birdies #9 and comes in with a score of 36.
-Leroy Allbright, subbing for Dan Steiner, takes two over on #3 and #6 but then almost holes out his tee shot on #7 and fires a 38; gets the hole prize on #7 as well.
-Mark Potts, subbing for Bric Parker, started off by hitting his tee shot on #1 just down the hill, settled for a bogey on the hole, then went on to shoot two under the rest of the way.
-Doug Denson came in with a 34 and said it should have been better: a lip hanger on #1 and boring pars on the par fives.
-Steven Downey said his round of 37 was more like it after disappointing rounds the first two weeks of the season.
-Terry Butcher chunked a couple of shots going down #1 but recovered enough to shoot a 36, a score which included three birdies.
-Junior Byron birdied #7 to go one under for his round but gave it back on #9 to shoot an even par for the day.
-Short Jeffers took a bogey but made a long putt good enough for a hole prize on #8.
-Tim Voegerl turned forty in February and is wondering where his golf game has gone…
-Jordan Divine turned in a sterling 40 today.
Hole Prizes went to Ryan Johnson, Leroy Allbright, Short Jeffers and Skip Ackerman. Low net score to Leroy Allbright with a 31; low gross to Doug Denson and Mark Potts with 34's. Low net team was also a tie: James Hager and Ryan Johnson along with Mike Breeden and Bryant Trambaugh with 65's.

Tuesday Men
Come on down! Another day to find some glory and maybe a hole-in-one or an eagle or a birdie or two. At the least, you get to walk around on some green stuff and smack a little ball all over the place. Five years ago today the league leaders were Warren Atkison (he shot a 45 with a 10 handicap that day), and the team of Greg and Mark Potts who shot a 38 and a 35. Short Jeffers also shot a 35 (low rounds of the day). Warren heads into today's play on top again though he is sharing it with Dave Wininger this time around. Team leaders are Tom McAtee and Mike Smith. Expect we'll have a few good rounds today with the weather again being extraordinarily nice.

Tuesday Men Event 3 Results
Results are posted. Highlights:
-Low Gross: Mike Kidwell and Dave Wininger - 35's
-Low Net: Josh Huff - a sterling 29; Scott Arthur had a 32
-Low Net Team: Josh Huff and Mark Sherer - a 66
-Hole Prizes:
--#3: Short Jeffers
--#7: Todd Baker
--#8: Terry Butcher
--#9: Chuck Baker who was pressed into a sub role for Steven Downey - Chuck remembers Steven's dad as a pretty good basketball player a while back. Might still be.
-Junior Byron finished his round with three birdies and a par to salvage a 38.
Other stuff:
-James Hager found out he is going to be a daddy. He and Louton to be parents of a new one late this year. Congrats, James and Louton (her parents are Louis and Tonya).
-John Walker reported that his enjoyment of Egypt was dampened by the need for his small group of five to be accompanied by a heavily armed guard when they went out to see the attractions. That would dampen my enjoyment as well.
-Pictures a little later.

Tuesday Men Come on Down!
Picture: No, it wasn't taken earlier this morning though it felt just as cold - didn't have enough blankets on the bed and the furnace was in the off position. Brrrr.
Looks like it just might be a little cool. Will be playing with Mike Smith for Tom McAtee at 11 this morning.

Tuesday Men Event 2 Results
Tuesday Men's League reports are posted. Best scores for the day:Keith Parsons, Joe Allen, Dave Wininger and Terry Padgett. Hole prizes: Joe Allen, TJ McAtee, Brent Courter, and Trenton Kidwell. Phil Eyler and Charlie Lyon posted a net team score of 68 and edged Curt Johnson and Bric Parker by a score of 107 to 101 (points) for the Team Tournament trophy. More later.

Second Event for Tuesday Men - Team Tournament Completion
Tuesday Men go for it again. Today marks the completion of the 18 hole Team Tournament with Bric Parker and Curt Johnson currently holding the top position. Last year the team of Terry Butcher and Joe Doyle came from 12 points back to win. If that is any indication, seven teams are within shooting distance of the leaders (go here to check out the standings - remember, the team with the most points in the standings after the second week is the winner). I wouldn't be surprised to see a team from way back take home the trophy.
Eric and Junior have been getting the course in shape with lots of grass being cut to smithereens. Expect much better scoring conditions today.

Tuesday Men's League Event 1 Results
Results of the 1st event are posted at the website. As expected, some pretty high scores with the average for the group up 3-4 strokes at 46.54. Highlights that I'm aware of:
-Short Jeffers holed out his very first tee shot of the season; unfortunately, he was hitting off of #1 tee box and the ball found the bottom of #9's cup. He did go on to birdie the hole. Impressive.
-Todd Baker took 7's on #1 and #4 and still came in at 38; that means he shot two under for the other seven holes. Impressive.
-Bric Parker returned to league play after a year of nursing his back, was worn out pretty much after seven holes, and still came in with a net 32. Impressive.
-Mark Jones also came in with a net 32 having parred four holes, including the final three of his round.
-Mark Sherer continued his impressive debut in league play by claiming two of the four hole prizes, #3 and #8.
-Eddie Green, another new comer to league play, and Trenton Kidwell claimed the other two hole prizes at #9 and #7.
-Doug Denson's 37 was the low gross of the day.
Pictures to follow shortly.

Tuesday Men's League Event 1
Big day at Lakeview - Tuesday Men get themselves started. Would be nice if someone got a hole-in-one. Would be nice if there were a few sub par rounds. Expect a lot of rust on the course when the day is done and a group average in the low to mid 40's. Looks like Mother Nature is cooperating. Don't forget - this is event 1 as well as the first nine holes of the Team Tournament.

League Report on Google Docs
I think I have this done properly. We'll see if this is an improvement in updating League results.
Tuesday Men's League Report here.
update: guess you have to have a google account to access a google document. Am sure not everyone wants to do that so will look for other options.

Rain goes elsewhere, Tuesday Men Scramble
Picture: scoreboard of Tuesday Men Opening Scramble.
The rains were expected to start falling around three this afternoon; then around six this evening. Sometime a little after eight, the last foursome finished up and we were able to post the winners of our first opening day scramble without a drop of rain coming down on our heads. Give thanks to the wayward winds with their little nudge pushing the storms just west and north of us.
For the record, here are the winners of the scramble and the sharpshooters who got themselves a hole prize:
-low gross: the team of Mark Jeffers and Tim Voegerl turned in a score of 30 with Tim running in the longest putt on one and Short running in an even longer one on nine. Five other teams posted scores of 31.
-low net: new players in the Tuesday Men's League, Mark Sherer and Josh Huff turned in a score of 31 which translated into a net of 26.66. Two teams, the Denson/Holland team and the Jeffers/Voegerl team, tied for second in net with scores of 28.
-Hole Prizes:
--Longest putt on #1: Tim Voegerl
--Closest to the pin #3: Mike Kidwell
--Closest to the pin #7: Dean Winkler
--Closest to the pin #9: Curt Johnson
Congratulations to all the winners and to all the players who braved the 'possibility' of rain and came out and played just for the heck of it. Next week, regular season gets underway.

Tuesday Men's League Notes
Notes for Tuesday's League opening two person scramble:
-prizes for low gross and low net scores; team handicap will be determined by adding players' handicaps and dividing by 3 with a maximum handicap of 6 for any team.
-Hole prizes: #1 - longest 1st putt; #3, #7, #9 - closest to the pin.
-Because of the very watery conditions in fairways #6 and #8, use forward tee box on #6 (red), and for #8 go to blue tee blocks just off of #8 green.
-sand traps are closed - free drop.
-area adjacent to #7 tee box is now in play (not out of bounds); play your ball in that area without movement or penalty.
-Because of the wet conditions, there is plenty of high grass and very soggy ground where balls will hide; spend minimum time looking for lost balls - take a free drop in agreed upon vicinity.
