Denson/Wilcher Invitational at Lakeview Golf Course

On Sunday, August 2nd, The Doug Denson/Larry Wilcher Invitational was held at Lakeview Golf Course. The twenty-seven hole event had twenty-three two-person teams playing scramble, alternate shot, and best ball. A Flight winners, at -4 for the game, were Nick and Rick Wininger who won on a second playoff hole against the team of Kevin Johnson and Doug Denson. The B Flight winners were Dave Wininger and Mike Arvin who came in at even par for their round. Second place was claimed by Mike Kidwell and Mike Bird (+1 final score and decided on the first playoff hole against the Mattingly/Johnson team). Don Kelso and Brian Burris won on a tie breaker against the team of Weston Muessig and Mitch Jeffers to claim first place in the C Flight. Each team finished at +3 for the event.

Lents' Eagle Ignites Scramble Win

Jack Lents chipped in for eagle at hole number two to jump start his teammates on a nine hole round of six under and the victory in the Saturday morning scramble at Lakeview. Four other teams competed and fired rounds ranging from three under to five under on a lovely summer day in southern Indiana.

Community League

Clint Knepp and Rob Graber sealed a win in the League’s Team Tournament championship match by getting up and down at #9. Their two pars eliminated any chance the Junior Byron/Kevin Byron team had of catching them and sending the match into extra innings. The match was tied after seven holes but tilted toward the victors when Junior Byron’s three foot bogey putt slipped past the hole at #8, giving the eventual victors a one up advantage going into the final hole. In regular season action, Tyson Stoll and Adam Wagler maintained an iron grip on first place in the team competition and now lead two teams tied for second at forty-three points back with just two weeks to go in the season. Tarry Bratton and Bill Harder, along with Clyde Wake and Bob Norris, are chasing the front runners. In individual competition, Adam Wagler has a hundred and thirty-three point lead over second place Bill Harder. Adam broke his toe and may miss the rest of the season. The question is whether anybody can catch him. The league’s final two weeks include a handicapped tournament for individual players.

Thursday Senior League

The Seniors were rained out this past Thursday. The players will make up their rounds during the week before the next event.

Tuesday Men’s League

It took Mike Kidwell and Joe Allen ten holes, but they finally got a match win over Mark Sherer and Josh Huff in one of the pairings of the Team Tournament semi- finals. Joe Allen ran in a decisive fifteen foot putt for bogey on that final hole. Dave Wininger and Dan Steiner got a 2 and 1 victory over the team of Trenton Kidwell and Chris Bledsoe. The two winners meet for the championship on Tuesday, the 4th of August. In regular season action, the Kidwell/Allen team stayed on top of the team standings in spite of claiming only fifteen points for the event. Bric Parker also kept his top spot in the individual standings, but has Joe Allen suddenly breathing down his neck. Joe got ninety-five points for his play and is in second place, just twenty-seven points behind Bric. Low scores for the day were shot by Rob Sterling with a net 28, Tyler Kidwell with a gross 33, and Mike Albertson and Mark Jones with a team low net of 62. Sharpshooters included Ward Smith, Charlie Lyon and Mark Potts on close to the pin shots, and Dave Strange, James Hager and Tony Wease on long putts.
