-That dynamic and friendly South Korean duo who duked it out for the US Open championship last year are at it again down at the Australian Open. So Yeon Ryu (-6) and Hee Kyung Seo (-5) are one stroke apart after 36 holes. Four players are two strokes out of the lead at -4: Jessica Korda, Melissa Read, Julieta Grenada and Stacy Lewis. #1 Yani Tseng is even par and suffered a quadruple bogey at the seventh hole yesterday. The youngster, Lexi Thompson, is +2 and tied for 19th (she took a triple on the 7th hole). The ladies are playing at Royal Melbourne where the Presidents Cup was held last Fall.
-The Big Boys and a bunch of celebrities are out in California at the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am with Tiger Woods at -4 and tied for 15th place, five strokes out of the lead. Dustin Johnson, Danny Lee and Charlie Wi are tied at -9.
-Hoosiers win last night, beat their good neighbors Illinois, 84-71.
-Lion Boys lost at Orleans last night, 58-54 (dang). Vikings continue to win, beating South Knox, 62-29. North Daviess beat Union Dugger, 53-45.
-More Girls sectional tonight starting at 6 with the Lions taking on the Cougars. That will be followed by the undefeated Vikings playing the defending state champs, the Patriots of Vincennes. A repeat of my predictions: Lions win easily; Patriots avenge their regular season loss with a win to advance to the final Saturday night.
-Miss all the golfing that we have had in the last several weeks. Shoo, cold weather.
-Off to breakfast at the Breakfast Barn in Bedford with Ron and Peggy Acuff.
