-Scramble at 10 this morning.
-Reminder: Tuesday Men and Thursday Match League players have the rest of today to get their first preseason scramble score into the system. Tomorrow starts the second week of the preseason scramble game. Remember, there is a prize for the first scramble, the second scramble and the total of the two (must play with the same partner each week to be eligible for the 18 hole prize).
-Reminder 2: The fee for the two preseason scrambles, as well as the mid-season scramble, are already paid as they are part of the league entrance fee.
Jack Lents and I will be playing after the SMS (Saturday Morning Scramble) around noon if any other team wants to join us. I am also available to play a scramble with a Tuesday Men player later this afternoon - 6'ish.
-Friday Masters play: Woe is Tiger with a plus three on the day and now eight strokes behind the leaders, Jason Dufner and Freddie Couples who are at -5 for the tournament. Would say he is again lucky to be where he is and not further behind the leaders. Note to Tiger: Bring your A game today; that would be the one you displayed a couple of weeks ago at Arnie's place. Love the fact that Couples is playing so well - may his back hold up for him throughout the weekend. Got to believe that The Kid is in a pretty good position at -4 and very much a factor on the weekend. A Couples-McIlroy final pairing on Sunday would be neat. And maybe Mickelson and Woods just in front of them?
-Did you get an invite to Sultan Run's beer tasting event at 6:30pm on the 19th of April? Expect you can just show up, pay your money and join in if you are so inclined. Of more interest, to me anyway, is the Demo Day and fitting with a Callaway rep from 8-2 the same day. The right equipment does make a difference though for most of us golfers, just like in buying a suit, something off the rack is just fine.
-Jack Lents told me yesterday that Dick Lemmon, he with the hole-in-one at Lakeview after taking lessons down at Doral, is really pounding the ball. Might want to ask him what his 'secret' to success is.
-Karry Stoll was out with JD Simmons last night playing a round. He had me take his camera back to the clubhouse and view the photos of his trip to Augusta (with Dave Wininger, Mike Seals and Mike Arvin). They were there last Wednesday and did a lot of hobnobbing with the likes of Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Fred Couples, Keegan Bradley, etc. Pretty neat as cameras are allowed on Wednesday so lots of pics of the well known. And some of Mike and Mike and Dave. Trying to remember if there were any of Karry - maybe his legs and feet - think he was showing the relative depth of the fairways (he later told me they were as trim as the carpet in the clubhouse) and the rough.
-Sun's coming up - hurray! Another nice day for golf - in a little bit when the temps get up in the 50's and 650's. We are so blessed. Right? Right.
-See some of you later.
