-The Masters: Who would have thought that Woods and McIlroy would have been all square with each other at five over par at the end, and tied for a miserable 40th place. And who would have thought that Phil Mickelson would have two, yes, two, triple bogeys during the tournament, the real killer being the one on Sunday at hole #4. Give him bogeys on those two rather than triple bogeys and he wins by two. Who would have thought that TW would have his worst Masters ever after playing so well down at Arnie's place just two weeks ago. Bubba Watson winning? That's not really a surprise - he definitely was in the mix and the chatter before it all started down there in Augusta Thursday morning. Good theater, especially Sunday afternoon where we got to see another four birdie run down the stretch by the winner (#13 thru #16) as well as a dramatic and gutsy shot from the pines to set up the easy two putt for par and the win on the second extra hole. -Of note: I tried to hit Dick Lemmon's new driver last Saturday (a left handed model, seeing he bats from the other side of the plate). Had Karry Stoll standing there saying I wasn't gonna hit it (thanks, Karry...) and JD Simmons standing there saying 'I bet he does' (thanks, JD). Missed completely on the first two swings and then tagged it just barely on the third - got a weak roller to the first baseman. Did spend some of my Sunday morning working on hitting irons from the 'wrong' side - a 5 iron, a pitching wedge. Wouldn't say I'm proficient though was making contact regularly.
