Good Endings in the Bigs

What with all the inclement weather we had around here yesterday afternoon and evening - up to about 3pm it was a super lovely day! - we had the chance to watch the last of the pro tournaments, both the men and the ladies. And the endings of each were pretty special. Down in Houston, Paul Casey managed bogeys on the 18th hole twice to win his first PGA event - the first time dropped him into a tie with JB Holmes who had finished two hours before and was hanging around to see what was going to happen. As it was, his first competitive shot after that delay was a plunker into the water and an eventual six on the first playoff hole. And that made Casey's five a winning score.

Out west in Rancho Mirage, CA, the ladies first major of the year was won in dramatic fashion when Brittany Lincicome stroked a 210 yard shot to within three feet for an eagle and a one stroke victory over Kristy McPherson and Cristie Kerr, her two playing partners who had spent the afternoon fighting over first place. Pretty good stuff. Btw, Michelle Wie finished with a 71 to pull herself out of the basement and into a tie for 67th. Her four days in the sun: 71-81-81-71. The 71's are adequate but the 81's are real killers.
