Thursday Match Play League Notes
First nine holes of the 36 hole Individual Handicapped Tournament was played on Thursday, the 3rd of June, with Jim Bateman firing the low net score of the day, a nifty 29, 6 under par. Three players share second place at 4 under par: Jack Lents, Susan Fee and Pam Byron. Bateman and playing partner, Wilma Bateman, also remained on top in the regular season team standings, trumping Clyde Wake and Dave Strange (making his initial appearance of the season!) by a score of 11.5 to 2.5. The Batemans also had the low net team score of the day, a 63. Frank and Susan Fee are in second place in the team standings; they crushed their opponents of the day, Ken Hudson and Carrol Rayhill by a score of 12 to 2. Low gross score was turned in by Mike Bird with a nine par even par score of 35. Walter Henrichsen's 39 was the second best for the day as were his 6 pars. Bird leads the Individual standings and is followed by Wayne Pearl, Jim Bateman and John Chapman. Hole prizes were claimed by Ken Hudson at #7 and #8 while Jack Butcher got the one at #9 for the second week in a row. Average gross score for the day was 46.64, down from 47.11 of the previous week and the second lowest for the season. Event one's average of 46.36 remains the low for the season. Hole #6 played the hardest on the day at 1.6 strokes over it's par 5, while hole #2 played the easiest at .72 strokes over it's par of 4.
