Bits and Pieces

-What's not to like about the Woods-Westwood-Kaymer pairing down in Dubai this week?  Great for golf and its fans around the world.  Time for Tiger to stand tall.

-Heard on the weather report at 11 last night: winter as we know it this year will be over in two days.  Major warm up on its way.  I'll take that.

-College basketball (with March Madness just up the road):  The Irish men, #7 in the polls, play #15 Louisville tonight at Notre Dame.  The Lady Irish, #8 in the country, did a number on Seton Hall last night, winning by a score of 89-38. Cool beans for Irish.

-From Amazing but true golf facts desk calendar: Chuck Dunbar, head pro at Pebble Beach: "Slow play leads to over-thinking.  Play faster and you'll play better."  Of course, just how much or how fast we all think is open to debate, which would mean that some of us would get to Dunbar's over thinking stage sometime later, thus not really over thinking but indeed playing a bit slower.  Right?

-Amazing fact for today:  Dave Pelz, the engineer and short game golf guru, did research that showed 30% more chips drop (into the cup) when the pin is in.  Expect I'll ignore that bit of research and continue to ask that the pin be removed - makes for more room for the ball to drop.

-Did check out the top ten most desirable women in the world (according to a askmen.com poll).  Don't know or recognize any of them.  Did see Angie Dickenson on tv the other night; had forgotten how good looking she was.  Blast from the past photo of her here.

-Best go have breakfast with Diane and get on with the rest of the day.  Parting shot:  Dust off those golf clubs.
