Byron and Byron vs Knepp and Graber
Junior Byron told me that he and son Kevin (subbing for on vacation Tyler Booker) will take on Clint Knepp and Rob Graber at 2pm tomorrow for the championship in the Community League's July Team Tournament. You are more than welcome to come on out and watch as the two go head to head in match play. Any predictions? Each team sports a combined handicapped of 14 so no strokes given one way or the other.

Seniors Wait on Rain
The Seniors came to the golf course this morning ready to play but found themselves waiting for a rain system to move east. After a forty-five minute wait, with the rain still coming down, the event was declared a rain event and gave the seniors the option to play their scheduled match any time between now and the day of the next event. Dang rain...
Seniors - Come on Down!
It's a great day for golf! Lets see if Wayne Pearl and Junior Byron still have the magic touch - they go up against Tony Wease and Charlie Sheetz in a match that is a make up from the rain out of April 30 (all today's matches are part of that make up). And Carroll Rayhill sits on top of the Individual standings - how long, Carroll? Got a couple of extra groups coming out to join us for golf this morning, so pack a bit of extra patience with your A game on your way out.

Tuesday Men Team Tournament Correction
On a review of the scorecards in the Kidwell/Allen and Sherer/Huff match last night, Mike and Joe actually won on the eighth hole and didn't need the extra hole to claim victory.
Tuesday Men's League Photos
Trenton Kidwell and Chris Bledsoe (along with John Butcher) wait for the arrival of their opponents, Dave Wininger and Dan Steiner, in one of the semi final matches of the Team Torunament. Dave and Dan did show up and won the match, 2 and 1.
Joe Allen putting from off the green at #7 in the other semi final match play event. He and Mike Kidwell took down Josh Huff and Mark Sherer in their match.
Young golfer, Brody Allen Gilbertson, is seen with his dad, Derek, on #4 green. We all tried to get him to smile but he wasn't going to have anything to do with that. Guess we'll have to make do with Derek's smile.

Tuesday Men's League Results
Today's results are posted here. Congrats to the winners of the Team Tournament semi finals: Joe Allen and Mike Kidwell, and Dave Wininger and Dan Steiner. They meet in the championship match next Tuesday.
Weather
Looks like we are in for an occasional shower this afternoon - maybe. Might fall all around us and miss us entirely. League is on and we will be watching the weather.
Tuesday Men - Come on Down
Four teams left in the July Team Tournament. Who advances? Dave Wininger and Dan Steiner (team h'cap 10) take on Trenton Kidwell and Chris Bledsoe (team h'cap 5) while Mark Sherer and Josh Huff (team h'cap 9) go up against Mike Kidwell and Joe Allen (team h'cap 9). Dave and Trenton joined the zero handicappers with their low scores last week; Mark Sherer is getting close with a one and Mike Kidwell currently with a two. Would expect Joe Allen would love a repeat of last week's 36. Should be fun for the eight of them. Meanwhile, the struggle to stay at the top of the standings continues. Bric Parker got back the top position in the Individual standings and is fighting off Buck Holland, Gary Burris and Joe Allen (and about ten others close enough to realize they indeed can win this thing). In the team competition, didn't Curt Johnson and Bric Parker have the top spot not too long ago? Like maybe two weeks ago? They have tumbled all the way down to ninth in a race that is even more topsy-turvy than the one among the individuals. What fun. The rains of the past week end have made the grass grow a bit taller, the fairways and greens a bit softer. And I've heard from guys who can't make a putt for nothing and those who can't seem to miss. So, you take it from there, come on down, give it your best shot, get a bounce here or there, and see what happens. Who knows, might even be a hole-in-one this week (Keith Parsons came within an inch or two at #7 last week).

Jim Murphy’s net 29 came on a 38 gross, a new low for Jim. Also firing a new low round for himself, as well as claiming his first par round of his career, was Tracy Rayhill, who finished with a birdie at nine and a score of 34. Dave Wininger fired the low gross score with a super 32 that included four birdies. Sharpshooters claiming hole prizes were Ed Green, Keith Parsons and Tracy Rayhill on close to the pin shots; and Joe Allen, Terry Padgett and Larry Sutton with long putts.

Note: The next five weeks of the schedule are now finalized with the rain out of Event 3 in April next up on the 30th of July. Something new to the schedule is a late season Individual Handicapped Tournament to be played over the next four weeks. That would be a 36 hole tournament using net scores each week. Low score over the period will get the prize. That will leave one final week of the regular season to be played and then the Individual flighted tournament the first two weeks in September.

Joe Allen watches as Dave Wininger chips in from just off of #9's green to finish a super round of 32. Joe had an excellent round himself, a 36 that included birdies on each of the par 5's.
Bill Carrico watches as Mark Sherer sticks one close at #8. He went on to make the short putt for a birdie in another good round of the day, a 34.
Larry Sutton pondering his tee shot at #1.
Phil Eyler just about ready to start what turned out to be a forgettable round as his buddies, John Walker and Charlie Lyon, trade places in the background. Skip Ackerman appears to be waiting patiently.

Tuesday Men's League Results
Today's results are posted here. Congrats to the four teams that advanced to the Team Tournament semi finals: Mike Kidwell and Joe Allen, Mark Sherer and Josh Huff, Dave Wininger and Dan Steiner, and Trenton Kidwell and Chris Bledsoe. They all played amazingly well today.
Rob Graber and Clint Knepp Advance in Community Team Tournament Play
The team of Rob Graber and Clint Knepp took on Adam Knepp and Tyson Stoll in the first of the semi finals in the Community League's July Team Tournament yesterday afternoon. Playing head-to-head, the 'old' guys, pictured above, lost the first hole in the match but then went win, win, half, win, win win to close out the match, 4 and 3. Expect it was a case of the nerves for the youngsters, Adam and Tyson, both teen agers, though did hear that Rob and Clint did use a bit of trash talking on the way to the golf course. Rob's play had something to do with it also: he shot a net 30 on the day, one which ended with a triple bogey way after the match had been decided. Congrats to the winners who now advance to play the winners of the Byron/Booker - Swayze/Taylor match.
Tuesday Men - Come on Down
July Team Tournament, week 3: nine teams playing for four available positions with the winners heading to match play next. A net 68 got you a ticket last week; this week? Don't know. Notes from last week: Gary Burris got the only eagle of the day with a chip in at #4 in a career best round of 36. Buck Holland appears to like it at the top - he's been there three weeks running. Bric Parker is back and might have something to say about that today. Phil Eyler joined the zero handicappers with his round of 34 last Tuesday. Trenton Kidwell is on the verge of doing the same - this week, Trenton? Average score for the group got into the 41's for the second time this year; don't expect it will go much lower but maybe there's a surprise out there. And still no hole-in-one - you all remember that there's a cash prize that goes with one of those this year, don't you? Anybody want to make a prediction now that the season is about two thirds gone? Buck Holland and Bric Parker have each spent a lot of time in first place; one of them going to take it all? And their respective teams have fared just as well. Got the legs (and the luck) to take it to the finish line? Way too early, me thinks. The top is way too unstable in both competitions. Greens and fairways are in excellent shape; the roughs seem to be a bit higher and still pretty thick - will add to your score if you keep getting into them. Better come on down and bring your A game (again) and do as Tom Watson did - play smart. But do choose the right club at the last so you don't have to make a nine footer to post the right score. Okay? Okay...

Jolly good show, Tom...
...but sure do wish you had chosen the nine iron into eighteen and then two putted. Expect it will be a month of blue Sundays before we get another fifty something within a whisker of a major championship. Dang.

Dale Yoder and Marty Graber did a quick nine Thursday evening. I caught up with them briefly at #5 tee box.
British Open Notes
Tiger Woods missing the cut at the British Open opens up my weekend a whole bunch. Does TW have something against ABC? I imagine viewing will be slashed by 25-50%. (Wild guess, there.) However, the Tom Watson story is kinda neat - a 59 year old tied for the lead after 36 holes. Go, Old Tom!

A little guy among some big guys
Will and Adam Wagler discuss what the right approah should be on Adam's birdie putt at #7 yesterday afternoon.
Adam then putted and ran the ball five feet beyond the cup. No biggie - he sank the come backer. Clint Knepp, Rich Graber and Kenny Wagler watch along with little Will.

Tuesday Golfers
James Hager just going into celebration mode as his ball disappears into the cup. He went on to shoot a 33, one of three on the evening.
Weston Muessig and Mark Potts, a couple of the young guns now playing in the Lakeview Leagues, comparing notes yesterday afternoon. Weston was just finishing up a round of 37 (he would have loved a repeat of last week's 33!), while Mark is about ready to hit his tee shot at #2. Mark went on to post a 33, joining James Hager and Dave Wininger in firing the low gross scores for the day.
Josh and John Butcher shortly before starting their league rounds.

Low Score Update
Asked about low nine hole scores at Lakeview in my post yesterday. Some additional information learned form Doug Denson and Dave Wininger: Rick Wininger has had a 28 (Dave was playing with him at the time); Doug has had a 30; and Dave has had a 31. Any more?

Tuesday Men's League Results
Today's results are posted here. Congrats to the nine teams that advanced to week 3 of the Team Tournament.
Tuesday Men - Come on Down
Week 2 of the Team Tournament. Seventeen teams advanced last week. After today's play, eight teams (plus ties) advance to week three. Last week, a net 70 kept you in the game. Today? Better take a few strokes off that number - maybe a 68, even a 67. The fairways continue to dry out - your ball will run some. Greens are being heavily watered. Should make for lower scores. Of note: Bric Parker popped a couple of muscles in his leg the other night - we carted him off in Eric's EZGO work horse to the appreciative cheers of the gathering crowds (meaning Mike Arvin); however, he was out there last night all wrapped up and swinging a club - he wanted to see if he could play today (last I heard, he expects to do just that). Guys with the big targets on their backs, the frontrunners: Buck Holland at the top in the individual standings; Bric and Curt Johnson in the team standings. Kudos to the zero handicappers - Mark Potts, James Hager, Mark Jeffers. And the guys who are knocking on the door with a one handicap: Doug Denson, Derek Gilbertson, and Phil Eyler. Also of note: Weston Muessig started out last week with a bogey, par, and then another bogey on #3; but then finished with two pars and four birdies (nice turnaround, don't you think?). Trenton Kidwell gave away three strokes on the first and last holes but found three birdies inbetween to finish with an even par 35. Mark Potts, with three birdies, an eagle and five pars, got himself a new personal best at Lakeview, a 30. (Btw, what are the lows at Lakeview? James Hager has a 29; I and Mark Potts have 30's. Would like to hear of lows you now of. Rick Wininger?) And today? Still waiting for a hole-in-one in league play this year. Any takers? Come on down, guys. Bring your clubs, a drink of your choice, and your A game.

Kidwell, Potts and Johnson Win Scramble
In a low scoring affair, Mike Kidwell, Greg Potts and Curt Johnson won the Saturday Scramble at Lakeview with a score of five under. Two other teams participated and came in at three under and one under. Guess everybody was distracted by the gathering storms - rains started falling as the last of the players finished up.
Community League
The Community League started its team tournament with 25 teams shooting for the eight spots to advance to week 2. The Junior Byron/Tyler Booker team led the way with a net score of 61 and the teams of Sharon and Ken Frye and Sandy Winter and John Drake fired 68’s to fill out the top eight teams. Thursday Golfing
Terry LaMar subbed for Wayne Pearly and shot two under his handicap to help Junior Byron stick it to Mike Bird and Richard Swayze in the Senior League yesterday. The trashing (11.5 to 2.5) also vaulted the Pearl/Byron team into first place.
Jack Lents, here seeming to pass the driver of choice to JD Faris, shot a 39 in league action and that got him the top position in the Individual standings in the Senior League, at least temporarily. Just like the Tuesday Men's League, lots of volitility at the top.
Sharon and Ken Frye were out for their Community League round. Here Ken watches as Sharon rolls a putt towards the cup at #9. Ken had just chipped in for a birdie and a round of 40.
Jim and Leanne (all smiles) Love got in an early evening round. Here Jim is taking a break from loading the clubs (not really) while Leanne is getting ready to pay the piper (really).

One of two couples up from the Villas in French Lick finishing up, at least one with a smile.
John, Jeremy, Noah and Josh in the shade at #2.
Phil Smith drains a ten foot putt at #9 to wrap up his subbing for Terry Butcher.

Tuesday Men's League Results
Results are posted here. Congratulations to the seventeen teams that advance to seek 2 of the Team Tournament.
Kids, kids and the new Three Musketeers
Jeremy Wildman had his boys out. Here Jaylen and Jordan (I think I remember that right) showed their old man how to get the ball to the green at #8. The two youngsters hit runners that did just fine while Jeremy tried the more traditional lofted approach which came up way short.
Nick Toy was out after dinner with Sebastian, Anastasia (and Jaymie, big with a second daughter due in August). Expect Nick and Jeremy were having fun with their kids as well as tuning up for Tuesday's league play.
Mike Arvin, Karry Stoll and Dave Wininger are making a habit out of an after dinner round of golf. That reminded me of a former threesome out at Lakeview known as the three musketeers - Dave Strange, Fred Elliott and Jack Lents, who would often show up and play for quarters.
