Tuesday Men - Come on Down
July Team Tournament, week 3: nine teams playing for four available positions with the winners heading to match play next. A net 68 got you a ticket last week; this week? Don't know. Notes from last week: Gary Burris got the only eagle of the day with a chip in at #4 in a career best round of 36. Buck Holland appears to like it at the top - he's been there three weeks running. Bric Parker is back and might have something to say about that today. Phil Eyler joined the zero handicappers with his round of 34 last Tuesday. Trenton Kidwell is on the verge of doing the same - this week, Trenton? Average score for the group got into the 41's for the second time this year; don't expect it will go much lower but maybe there's a surprise out there. And still no hole-in-one - you all remember that there's a cash prize that goes with one of those this year, don't you? Anybody want to make a prediction now that the season is about two thirds gone? Buck Holland and Bric Parker have each spent a lot of time in first place; one of them going to take it all? And their respective teams have fared just as well. Got the legs (and the luck) to take it to the finish line? Way too early, me thinks. The top is way too unstable in both competitions. Greens and fairways are in excellent shape; the roughs seem to be a bit higher and still pretty thick - will add to your score if you keep getting into them. Better come on down and bring your A game (again) and do as Tom Watson did - play smart. But do choose the right club at the last so you don't have to make a nine footer to post the right score. Okay? Okay...
