Bits and Pieces

-Big Boys: Tiger and Phil at 2 under, four back after day one.  Tiger dumped one in the water at 18 to lose a shot.  Give him something to think about overnight and till today's tee time (8:18).  Jeff Overton is also at two under.

-Morgan Pressel leading at the Salonpas Cup in Japan.  Updates from Mostly Harmless.  Being played in Ibaraki, Japan.  You remember where Ibaraki is, right?  Northeast of Tokyo.  Diane and I were stationed in Yokosuka, Japan, back in the early '60's.  Yokosuka is southwest of Tokyo.

-My new putter performed admirable yesterday.  Rolled in a six footer for birdie on our start hole (#6), and made several more putts over the course of the nine holes.  Did leave a couple of them short (big problem for me when the pressure mounts).  Did not get my five stroke improvement - shot a disappointing 39 with doubles at #7 and #4, the two easiest holes on the course.  Jeesh.

-Seems like things are starting real slow in the leagues this year, meaning golf games are rounding into shape at a surprisingly slow pace.  Can't blame it on the weather.  Maybe it just seems that way and in reality things are about as normal as moms and apple pie in America.  (Btw, Mother's Day this Sunday - doing anything special for or with your mom?)

-Saturday morning scramble starts at 9 tomorrow.
