Bits and Pieces

-Morgan Pressel, the only American in the tournament, wins the Salonpas Cup in Ibaraki.  Details at Mostly Harmless.  With the win, she became the golf babe of the day at Golf Babes.  Note the non golf attire worn by Morgan - little black dress and high heels.

-Tiger Woods withdraws from The Players with possible bulging disc in his upper back.  Hope it's a stress related thingee rather than a more serious injury.  I remember how anxiety (on starting a new job) almost bent me over one Saturday morning; still did manage to come out and play in the scramble (Steve Padgett was one of the team members - hi, Steve!). Johnny Miller also thought it might be stress related.  I think Tiger has a few things roiling around between his ears at the moment, things that do affect his play.  Hope he finds some way to relax, you know, like, go to a movie with a friend or something (?!).

-So Phil Mickelson will edge even closer to being #1 in the world.  That would be a change, first one since 2005 when Vijay Singh and Tiger sparred for the top spot. However, he isn't there just yet.  Tiger does have to get his act together if he wants to keep that being-#1-in-the-world streak alive.

-And how about the show that Tim Clark put on for us yesterday afternoon!  Watched most of the coverage even without Tiger anywhere around.  Good going, guys!

-Ladies play down in Alabama this week at the Bell Micro Classic.  Here's the line up; pairings not listed yet.  Definitely time for Michelle Wie to get herself another win.

-My golf babe of the day:  How about two of them: Morgan Pressel, latest winner (over in Japan) and the next winner (?!), Michelle Wie.  Go here for this photo of the two 'party girls' seen at Golf Spelled Backwards.
