Saturday Scramble: Short and Accurate Triumphs Over Length

Mike Bird, Greg Potts and Kevin Byron used accuracy with their approach shots and putting to win the May 1st Saturday Morning Scramble at Lakeview. The trio converted birdie putts at holes one, two, four and eight to come in with a score of 31 and beat the teams of Dave Wininger/Wayne Souerdike, and Mark Potts/Bric Parker. Continually outdriven from 25-50 yards by the long knockers on the other two teams, the threesome used the shorter sticks to maximum advantage: Greg Potts nailed the approach shots at one and two while Kevin Byron took care of four and eight; Mike Bird rolled in the putts at two, four and eight.
