Played 18 holes over at Country Oaks yesterday morning - Mike Anderson's Senior Game, an every Wednesday affair where you play your own ball but in a team game. First time I have played off of Lakeview this year - long time coming. Had heard that the Oaks greens were pretty fast. My putter adjusted quickly though and I had only one putt get away from me leading to a three putt green. Overall, my putting was more than good; evne snaked in a few putts for birdies in the process. Repeated the good putting in an evening skins and flags match with Duane Wagler. So, the Utley grip and alignment stay along with the Pelz straight back, straight through stroke. Utley also did some writing on the importance of confidence - something we all realize is critical to good putting, and that has helped - chasing away negative thoughts, looking for the positive things happening on the green, seeing the effort and the improvement. Don't make every putt (yet) but do try and make a good putt every time and even there stumble on occasion. The book is available at the clubhouse if you want to borrow it.
Now it's on to Utley's other book - The Art of the Short Game.
