News Article for the Week

Lakeview Golf Course News for the week of June 15:

Wininger, Kidwell, Parker and Bratton Win Scramble

Dave Wininger, Tyler Kidwell, Bric Parker and Tarry Bratton came in with a score of five under to win the Saturday morning scramble at Lakeview. The team eagled four and had birdies at two, three and six to squeak by two teams at four under in a match that was surprisingly low scoring. In previous weeks, teams with this caliber of players were carding scores of seven and eight under to take the trophy. Two other teams came in at three under to round out the scores.

Summerfest Scramble

Lakeview will be holding the 18-hole Summerfest Scramble this coming Saturday, June 20th, starting at 8am. Tournament Director is Mike Arvin. Call the clubhouse at 812-295-5678 for details or to sign up as a team or as an individual.

Senior League

Mike Anderson, Jack Butcher and Richard Swayze each carded net 30s last Thursday in the Senior League’s ninth event of the season. That gave them low net scores for the day, while Mike’s actual 35 earned him the low gross of the day. Richard’s low score helped the team of Swayze and Bird score a 10.5 to 3.5 win over their opponents, Pam Byron and Patty Bowling, and kept them in first place in the Team competition, thirteen and a half points ahead of Vic Wallace and Mike McLaughlin. Jack Lents, with a sterling round of 39, jumped into first place in the Individual competition. Carroll Rayhill, Dick Barber and Rex Hudson fill out the top four. Sharpshooters for the event were Richard Swayze and Mike McLaughlin with long putts and Jack Lents and Rex Hudson with close to the pin shots. Low team score for the day was turned in by the team of Vic Wallace and Mike McLaughlin at 63.

Tuesday Men’s League

Trey Kidwell and Charlie Lyon with net 27s, along with James Hager and Short Jeffers with 34s, had the low scores in last Tuesday’s Men’s League event. Coming in with the low team score at 61 were the teams of Noah Callahan and Jeremy Wildman along with Tyler Kidwell and Trey Kidwell. Hole prize winners included Dave Wininger, Trey Kidwell and Josh Huff with close to the pin shots. Kevin Byron (with two) and Bryant Trambaugh had the long putts. At day’s end, Bric Parker and Curt Johnson had the top spot in team competition, with Mike Kidwell and Joe Allen in second, seventeen points behind. Bric Parker had a sixty-plus point lead in the individual competition, with Tony Wease and Josh Butcher holding second and third places. Also of note: Tim Voegerl, playing alongside last week’s eagle shooter, Jack Divine, popped one in from forty-some yards on the same hole (#5) for an eagle of his own. Of the thirty-two birdies picked up on the day, Josh Butcher and Dave Wininger each grabbed three of them.

Community League

Richard Swayze got low net score in two leagues when he shot a net 28 in this week’s Community League event to go with his net 30 in the Senior League. Mark Potts had the low gross round with a 35. Coming in second in low scores were Bill Harder and Ken Frye with net 29s, and Jeremy Graber and Duane Wagler, each with actual 37s. Tarry Bratton and Bill Harder had the low net team score of the week at 63 and that propelled them into first place in team competition, two points ahead of Noah Callahan and Chris Taylor. Bill Harder jumped into first with his nifty round, with Duane Wagler, Adam Wagler and Allen Swayze close behind in individual competition.
