Bits and Pieces: September Challenge; Football; Solheim Cup; Bric's Funeral Mass

-September Challenge:  Week 2 is Alternate Shot.  Each player tees off on each hole and then you alternate from there.  Make all putts.  Don't forget that the week 1 scramble has been extended through today with all the rain we had yesterday.  I know of three teams that have not posted scores.

-Wet out at the golf course.  Think we got about three inches of rain with a final deluge last night of an inch or so.  Things greening up in a hurry after last week's needed moisture.

-Irish win, barely.  Colts look good (the defense especially) in their loss.  Needed: a quarterback who can deliver the ball to the wide open receivers.

-The Europeans got the best of the Americans in the Solheim Cup.  Michelle Wie ran into three finishing birdies by Suzann Pettersen to lose at the 18th hole; and rookie Ryann O'Toole gave up a two stroke lead over the last two holes to finish all square with Caroline Hedwall.  Both results were late in the day.  Didn't help that Paula Creamer got creamed early and that Cristie Kerr had to withdraw because of injury.

-Off to Bric Parker's funeral mass (10am at St. John's).  He would have enjoyed the viewing yesterday - jam packed with lines of people twisting around and about from the very get-go.
