Bits and Pieces

-Lakeview's September Challenge:  Nineteen teams signed up with 16 teams having their scramble scores in the books.  Still time to sign up and get your score posted - through Sunday.  Sunday will also start the second week and the second game - Alternate Shot.  In Alternate Shot, both players hit from every tee box and then alternate from there on in till the ball is in the hole (remember - no gimmies).  Will post the first week's scores Sunday evening.

-The Tuesday and Thursday Games:  Will continue with the Tuesday and Thursday games next week (Alternate Shot), giving those in the September Challenge and those not participating to join in the fun.  Last week, six Tuesday teams participated with Short Jeffers and Terry Butcher (Sept. Chal. players) posting the low score; ten teams took part in the Thursday games with Frank and Susan Fee (non Sept Chal. players) taking the honors.

-Solheim Cup underway with Christie Kerr and Michelle Wie winning their match against Maria Hjorth and Anna Nordqvist.  The Golf Channel's Randall Mell makes it look like it was mostly the bad shots of the Europeans that gave the victory to the Americans.  A win is a win is a win.  The match is tied 2-2 going into the fourball matches this afternoon.

-Rain, rain.  Welcome rain this week - though we would like it to take a break for the weekend, at least during the daylight hours.  The Monday afternoon rain caught Tracy Rayhill, Curt Johnson, Tony Trambaugh and me out there on the course enjoying a skin and flag game.  Got wet but we didn't care: it wasn't cold and the game was even - each of us came away with a skin or a flag.  Did stop early enough for a foursome to get their September Challenge scramble in.

-Tomorrow morning's manager's scramble will start at 9am.
