LEMMON TAKES OVER 1ST PLACE WITH TWO WEEKS TO GO IN THURSDAY LEAGUE


Dick Lemmon shot a net 34 in his Thursday League round yesterday, earned 38 points and jumped to the top of the individual standings with two weeks to go in the season.  His season total of 665 points leads last week’s leader, Mike McLaughlin, by 15 points, and Jack Butcher by 22 points.  McLaughlin posted a net 36 on the day with Butcher coming in with an even par net 35.  Dick Barber had the low net round of the day at 29 and moved himself into contention for the championship; he earned 58 points for his efforts and has a season total of 613 points, 52 points in back of Lemmon. 
At the midway point in the flighted tournaments:  Mike Bird increased his lead in the A Flight to two strokes by firing the day’s low gross, a 37, and has a total of 72 for the tournament.  Junior Byron shot a 38 and holds onto second place at 74.  In B Flight, Terry LaMar and Frank Fee share the top spot with 75’s; Terry shot a 39 while Frank posted a 38.  C Flight has Susan Fee, who shot a 39 on the day, leading eight other golfers.  Her 10 under par for the two weeks has her one stroke in front of Mike McLaughlin and two up on Richard Lemmon.  Denny Wagoner in D Flight has the largest lead in the flights; his 43 on the day and 88 for the two weeks gives him a four stroke advantage on Rex Hudson.   Rex posted a 46 in his round.  In D Flight, Dick Barber shot a 45 and moved into first place with a total of 94.  He leads first round leader Morris Cornelius by a single stroke.  Morris posted a 48 on the day and has a total of 95.
Hole prize winners were Tony Wease and Virgil Harper with close to the pin shots at #7 and #9.  Susan Fee, for the second week in a row, had the longest putt at #8.  The group’s average gross score for the day was 44.47, up slightly from last week’s 44.17.
