Seniors Event 6 Notes and Comments
In the Thursday Senior League, Bob Norris shot a net 29 and Jim Bateman shot a net 31 for the low net scores of the day. Team low net was shot by Mike Anderson and Albert Kavanaugh with a 68. Mike also got the low gross with a 38; Mike Bird was one back with a 39. Hole prizes were claimed by Mike Anderson on both #3 and #7, Richard Swayze on #8 and Kenny Hudson on #9. Richard Swayze and Mike Bird continue to lead the pack in the Team competition. In Individual competition, Jack Lents tumbled to third with his humbling round of 48 and surrended first place to Richard Swayze. Mike Bird follows in second place. Of particular note: the course yielded only four birdies: Junior Byron on #4, Mike Bird and Vic Wallace on #5, and Mike Anderson on #7. The longest of the par 3's, #3, gave up only 3 pars to the players: Mike Anderson, Ward Smith and Rex Hudson. Jack Butcher claimed the most pars for the day with five in his round. Average gross score for the group was 48.9, down from the 50+ of a week ago and almost as good as three weeks ago when the average was 48.55. Vic Wallace's 50 was low man in his group (Dale DeLong, Allen Swayze and Charlie Sheetz) and his birdie on #5 allowed him to come in first in the eighteen hole Individual Handicapped Tournament with a net score of 68. Jack Butcher and Richard Swayze's 69's gave them a share of 2nd place while Bob Norris shared fourth with Mike Bird with scores of 70.
