Saturday Scramble

Wininger, Walton and Callahan Win Scramble

Five teams of three played in the Saturday morning modified scramble with a two under par winning the trophy. Dave Wininger, Tyler Walton and Noah Callahan edged the team of Doug Denson, Greg Potts and Tony Wease by a stroke. Two teams came in two strokes back: Mike Kidwell, Mike Bird and Bryant Trambaugh on one and Tyler Kidwell, Wayne Souerdike and Curt Johnson the other. Dragging in the caboose at one over was the team of Mark Potts, Joe Allen and Kevin Byron. Tyler Kidwell's team had a shot at tying the winning score but gave up two strokes on their last two holes with a par at #2, usually a for sure birdie hole, and a 7 at #3.

Thursday Senior League was rained out.

Tuesday Men's League

Highlights: Skip Ackerman eagled #5 with a chip in from below the green; also birdied #9 and came in with a score of 36 and the hole prize at #9. Leroy Allbright took a two over on #3 and #6 but then almost holed out his tee shot on #7, captured the hole prize there, finished with a 38 and shot the low net of the day with a 31. Mark Potts started off by hitting his tee shot on #1 just down the hill, settled for a bogey on the hole, then went on to shoot two under the rest of the way. Doug Denson came in with a 34 and said it should have been better: a lip hanger on #1 and boring pars on the par fives. Doug and Mark shared low gross with their 34's. Steven Downey said his round of 37 was more like it after disappointing rounds the first two weeks of the season. Terry Butcher chunked a couple of shots going down #1 but recovered enough to shoot a 36, a score which included three birdies. Junior Byron birdied #7 to go one under for his round but gave it back on #9 to shoot an even par for the day. Short Jeffers took a bogey but made a long putt good enough for a hole prize on #8. Ryan Johnson was the fourth hole prize winner with the closest shot at #3. Tim Voegerl turned forty in February and is wondering where his golf game has gone. Nine players shot net 32's and tied for second in low net score: Jordan Divine, Doug Denson, James Hager, Terry Butcher, Junior Byron, Bryant Trambaugh, Jason Rominger, Steven Downey and Don Carrico. Low net team score for the day was a tie: James Hager and Ryan Johnson along with Mike Breeden and Bryant Trambaugh with 65's.

In other news: The Knights of Columbus had an 18 hole scramble at Lakeview on Sunday, the 4th. Winners of the event were Eddie Green, Chris Bledsoe, Kyle Jones and Nick Toy with a final score of eight under. And a reminder: Lakeview's Community League starts the week of May 25th.
