Saturday Scramble: Denson, Ty Kidwell, Stoll and Doyle Win

Joe Doyle, celebrating his '39th' birthday once again, sank a reverse, backhanded five foot putt on #7 for a bogie that turned out to be the decisive shot in the Saturday Manager's Scramble. The team of Joe Doyle, Doug Denson, Tyler Kidwell and Karry Stoll shot two under par to edge the competition. Coming in one back of the winners were the teams of Mike Kidwell, Mike Bird and Bryant Trambaugh, and Mark and Greg Potts and Josh Huff. Dragging in the caboose at two over was the team of Dave Wininger, Wayne Souerdike and Kevin Byron. Each of the four teams managed a plus two on the par threes.

Thursday Senior League:

Thursday's chancy weather turned out to be less chancy than anticipated and the Senior League played nine holes without incident. The ground was soaked and play was affected with some having a far worse time than others. Highlights: Low net score was a tie between Jack Lents and newcomer Mike McLaughlin with 34's. Low gross was also a tie between Junior Byron and Mike Bird with 39's. Low net team went to Richard Swayze and Mike Bird with a score of 70. Hole Prizes went to Mike Bird, John Chapman, Leroy Streepy and Wayne Pearl. Average gross score for the event slipped to 50.24. Team leaders through week five are Richard Swayze and Mike Bird with 44.5 points; Richard Barber and John Chapman are second with 39 points. In individual competition, Jack Lents is at the top of the board with 193 points followed by John Chapman with 170 points and Richard Swayze with 167 points. The first nine holes of the Individual Handicapped Tournament were completed with Thursday's play and the leaders are Jack Lents and Mike McLaughlin who shot 34's; tied for second at 35 are Richard Swayze, Jack Butcher, Michael Bird, Tom McAtee and Junior Byron.

Tuesday Men's League:

In team competition, Mark Anderson subbed for Larry Sutton and helped the Sutton/Courter team slip into first place at 244 points; second place belongs to Terry Padgett and Gary Burris with 224 points. In individual competition, James Hager vaulted to the top and now leads with 445 points and is closely followed by Doug Denson with 442 points. Also cracking the 400 point total were Dave Wininger with 421 points and Eddie Green with 403 points. Low net scores for the day were shot by Bill Carrico, Brent Courter and Short Jeffers with 30's; low gross was shot by Short Jeffers with a 34; James Hager and Trenton Kidwell both came in with 35's. Low net team score at 62 was a tie between the Larry Sutton/Brent Courter team and the John Drake/Dean Winkler teams. Hole prizes for the day were taken by John Drake, Mark Jones, Skip Ackerman and Mike Kidwell. Weston Muessig's eagle at #4 was only the second one of the season in the League; Skip Ackerman has the other one.
