Young D.J. Harder, long time golfer and ace of the Shoals golf team, got his very first par round yesterday, a nice even 35. Playing with Ward Smith, D.J. had bogeys on holes #1 and #4 but found birdies at #5 and again at #7 to get back to even. Pars on his last two holes got him into the clubhouse with that very special first round of par or better. Congratulations to the young man.
Earlier in the day, Jack Butcher came out and played 18 holes with cronies Jack Lents, Morris Cornelius and Leroy Streepy. Jack had himself a very good day, firing a 37 on the front side and coming in with a 36 on the back. That makes a total of 73, a figure a smidge below Jack's age. Shooting his age is something Jack has done several times in these last several years. Pretty darn good for the old Lion handler.
