Bits and Pieces for a Monday Morning

-TW is visiting with reporters!  Spending five minutes with two different reporters yesterday.  Must say he looks a whole lot more like the man he used to be rather than that shell that gave the prepared speech just a while back.

-The Big Dance: Interesting stuff.  My rank in the NY Times bracket: 17837th.  Hmm.  Did enjoy that buzzer beater that allowed Michigan State to advance.  And Cornell?!  Go, little guys!  Those teams that weren't supposed to make it out of the first week - St. Mary's, Cornell, Northern Iowa, Washington.

-The Big Dance - Ladies: Four lower seeds advanced after the first round.  The Notre Dame women routed Cleveland State and play Vermont, one of the upset winners, next.  If the Irish keep on winning, they might get to play UCON for the umpteenth time this year for the championship.  If that happens, those girls from Connecticut will be going for their 78th consecutive win.  Wonder if anybody is betting against them?  Doubt it.

-Furyk wins!  At the Transitions.  He did make it interesting by stumbling a bit coming down the stretch.  And did you see that shot out of the trees on the 18th hole?  I know we aren't supposed to say the 's' word (shank - Furyk called it a 'half shank'), but that sure is what it looked like.  He recovered nicely, took his bogey and won by one over K.J. Choi.

-Golf in our backyard out at Lakeview was slow, slow and slow.  The rains that looked like they were going to be with us all day finally arrived at about 3:45 in the afternoon.  And today - rain likely with temperatures around 50 degrees.  Hmmm.

-Eric is back on his feet after the scoping of his knee to remove some stray cartilage and doing stuff at the golf course.  Hurray.

-Thought for the day: Go Barr Reeve, beat Bowman Academy.  Bring that state championship down to our neck of the woods.
