Bits and Pieces for a Sunday Morning

-The Big Dance: Butler advances and plays in it's back yard next week.  Hurray!  My standing in the NY Times bracket game has improved with yesterday's play: after day one, I was in 21292nd place; day two saw me drop further down the pipe to somewhere in the 27000's; but then after yesterday, I improved to 18757th place.  Go figure.  Still mired in fourth place in Marty's small group.  I mostly root for the underdog from this point out - the St. Mary's, the Northern Iowa's.

-Barr Reeve and Washington advance to the State finals with wins yesterday.  Local teams doing good.  Will there be anybody left in Montgomery to mind the store next Saturday?  Washington?

-Jimmy Furyk looking good on the Big Boys' Tour - takes a three stroke lead into the final day at the Transitions.  Went back and forth between the golf and the basketball while in the clubhouse yesterday.  Quite a change in tempo in that switching, from the slow and easy gait of the golf game to the hurley-burley, out-of-breath, go-fast pace of the boys in shorts.

-No hole-in-ones out at Lakeview yesterday though at least one eagle (Trenton Kidwell's during the scramble).  Today?  Probably a better chance of a sprinkle or two than an ace.
