Bits and Pieces

-I love this Payton Manning anecdote from espn and Gene Wojciechowski:

Remember the story Manning told Sports Illustrated's Peter King years ago about the 1998 draft? Colts management was split over which quarterback to take with the No. 1 overall pick: Manning or Washington State's Ryan Leaf.
Manning requested a meeting with then-general manager Bill Polian and then-coach Jim Mora. He told them, "I'd really like to come here if you want me. But if you don't, I promise you I'll come back and kick your ass for the next 15 years."
What a man.

-Golf's Big Boys get underway in a little bit down at the WGC Cadillac Championship at Doral in Miami.  The Big Girls don't tee it up again till next week at the RRG Donnelley Founders Cup in Phoenix.  Looks like us little guys and gals here in Loogootee get to take the day off with rain showers off and on during the day.  Well, maybe not all day but cooler temps when the rains clear out.

-Big Ten tournament (Mens) gets underway up in Indy today.  The fifth seeded Hoosiers take on the 12th seeded Nittany Lions at 1:55.  Eric and Colleen are going to be there.  If the Hoosiers win, they get Wisconsin next.  Bracket here.

-With Lakeview League play coming up in just a bit, you might want to set some personal goals for the season.  The previous post shows you where the league golfers ended up last year in the average gross for the season.  See your game improving?  Figure it will move you up in the standings?  Or at least end up being a lower average for the year?  We do have some more golfers joining league this year that will make things more interesting at the top.  Kevin Johnson and Paco Medina are planning on playing, each of whom have excellent games.  Others?  We'll see here in the next couple of weeks.

-Figuring on a scramble after the ball game this Saturday.  Around 2 or 2:15?  Too bad the weather is dipping down into the 20's Friday night; could have had an early scramble.  Sunny and in the high fifties in the afternoon.

-Time for breakfast.
