Bird, Lemmon and Wallace Win Thursday Scramble
Mike Bird, Dick Lemmon and Vic Wallace shot a three under par 32 to win the Thursday Morning Scramble out at Lakeview. After Mike Bird rolled a short but fast and downhill putt in at #5 for birdie, Dick Lemmon knocked down a Vic Wallace dart to five feet at nine for the team's second birdie. Dick did the honors again at #1, the team's seventh hole, by pitching to seven feet and then rolling in the putt for the team's third and decisive bird. The threesome beat out the teams of Junior Byron, Ray Shaw and Denny Wagoner (33), and Tony Wease, Jack Lents and Pam Byron (34). The Byron/Shaw/Wagoner team had four birdies on their round but self destructed by bogeying holes three and four. Of note: Jack Lents' shot at #7 hit the stick and dropped and stopped at the six inch mark in front of the cup. Made for an easy bird and a hard luck miss of an ace.
