Bits and Pieces

-At the Hana Bank Championship in Incheon, Michelle Wie birdied the last two holes to get to -2 and into a tie for fifth place.  Vicki Hurst and Song-Hi Kim lead at -4.  Forty-four players are within six of the top spot so at this point the tournament remains wide open.  Weather there is about like here: Saturday's expected high a 62 with sunny skies.  Sounds like pretty good golf weather to me.

-Of note:  Junior Byron and Denny Wagoner's scramble triumph yesterday morning broke the winning streaks of both Vic Wallace (three Thursday wins in a row) and Mike Bird (three scrambles in a row).  Dang.

-Watched the Rangers get thumped by the Giants for the second night in a row.  Too bad their pitchers took a 30 minute break there in the 8th inning - four walks and then a bunch of hits leading to seven runs - all after two were out.  Giant fans went bananas; Texas players looked absolutely lost.  Expect they will do better back home in Texas, right?

-Saturday Morning Scramble start time: 10am.

-Pretty tragic and stupid stuff up in South Bend with the death of ND student Declan Sullivan when the scissors lift collapsed in high winds on Wednesday.  Common sense by any number of adults up there should have prevailed, and didn't.

-The big boy golfers have followed the ladies to the Far East and are playing in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, at the inaugural Asia Pacific Classic.  Ben Crane is tied with Pariya Junhasavasdiku at five under for the lead.  (Pariya's name is a mouthful but just take your time and work yourself through it - you can do it.  Wonder if it's like using our full names but with only that one space: Michael Dominicsebastianbird.  Now that's a mouthful as well.)

-North Daviess footballers playing down at Perry Central tonight.  Should be a good one, Eric reports.

-Barr Reeve v-ballers are back up in Odon tomorrow playing Trinity Luthern for the Semin-state title.  They beat North Central last Tuesday night at Barr Reeve for the Regional Championship.

-Heading out to the golf course for a walk.  Golf maybe this afternoon when it's a bit warmer.
