Mike Anderson Update
Email from Carol:
"...Great Big Step for Mike on Monday..................we checked him out of Deaconess, and took him to Daviess Community Hospital in Washington for Rehab. He made the trip very well, said it just felt good to be back in the convertible(even tho the top wasn't down!). He came through the Heart Cath in great shape.......they did find a blockage, and put in a stent; Dr. said it was very small, and had he not been a diabetic, he would have only treated it with medication. The Dr. said the heart attack happened as a result of the DKA, and probably happened enroute to Deaconess or after they got him there.

He's in Room #409 - and visitors are welcome AFTER 4:00 pm - (they don't want visitors interfering with the Rehab).
Great to have him back in Daviess County..........one more step toward home! Thanks again, to all of you for your prayers and concerns; we came very close to losing him! Haven't yet figured out yet what God has planned for him, but we are praising Him for Mike's recovery!! GOD IS GOOD!!..."
Tuesday Men - Come On Down!
Three to go. That would be events before the regular season comes to a close. Time to crank up the adrenalin and make the final push to glory. For starters, the second week of the four week flighted tournament takes place today. Might as well go low today, move up towards the top (if you're not already there). Our leaders: James Hager - A, Junior Byron - B, Jake Divine - C, Bryant Trambaugh - D, a tie in E between Kevin Byron, Lonnie Hawkins and Virgil Harper, and Tom Trambaugh - F. In the regular season standings, the guys at the top this week are Tracy Rayhill and Greg Potts in team competition and Jordan Divine in the individual competition. Work to do for the rest of us.
No problem with the weather today. Grounds are still drying out - our August fairways are about as dry as they can get - expect roll. Greens are getting plenty of water - incoming balls should stick - don't forget to put a little loft in your shot.
Mantra for the day: Get the ball into the fairway, knock it onto the green, make a putt now and then. Of course, I also like choose the right stick and make a good swing.
Btw, still haven't had to pass out a special prize for a hole-in-one during league play. Any takers today? Also, start thinking about the two special prizes next week - a close to the barrel shot along with a long drive contest.
Come on down - have fun. (Reminds me of the movie Diane and I watched the other day: HappyThankYouMorePlease, a goodie.)

He's doing great! Walked 87 feet today, quite a distance for just being out of sedation for 48 hours!! He's swinging his arms!!...........so guess he's trying to get ready to be back on the course!! Carol..."

Thursday League Results Posted
This morning's league results are posted here. Congrats to each of the flight leaders for their early success.
Thursday Leaguers - Time to Play!
Got the Flighted Tournament starting today. Pairings are at the clubhouse - you will be going out with golfers in your flight. This four week tournament runs along with the final weeks of the season and the competition for the top of the individual standings. At the moment, Jack Butcher holds the top spot with Dick Lemmon, Jack Lents and Dave Brown in hot pursuit and several others within striking distance. In the tournament, top seeds are: Al Kavanaugh in A, Leroy Allbright in B, Dave Brown in C, Rex Hudson in D, and Vic Wallace in E. They are also known as the guys with the bulls-eye on their backs as all the rest of us will have designs on taking over what they have.
Looks like more sun today though without the heat and humidity of yesterday afternoon. We have August fairways out there at the course - they are hard and fast. The greens are soft with all the watering that Eric has done to keep them green. So, pack up your clubs (in an old kit bag...) and come on out and test your skills and your luck. Remember: hit the fairway, then the green and make a putt or two along the way - you'll do just fine.

Tuesday Men's League Recap Event 18 and Week 1 of Flighted Tournament
The first week of the four week Individual Flighted Tournament got underway with three golfers storming to three stroke leads in their respective flights. James Hager posted a 31 in A Flight to top Alan Burch's 34; Junior Byron's 35 in B Flight leads Jon Boyd, Josh Hawkings and Jordan Divine's 38's; and Jake Divine's 35 in C Flight tops Karry Stoll's 38. In two of the other flights, one stroke separates the top two positions: D Flight's Bryant Trambaugh's 37 just nips Paul Hart's 38 while in E Flight Tom Trambaugh's 49 tops Tom Flynn's 50. In the one other flight, E Flight, three golfers share the lead with 45's: Kevin Byron, Lonnie Hawkins and Virgil Harper.
In the regular season races, Tracy Rayhill and Greg Potts shot a net 73, earned 22 points and remained on top of the team standings with a total of 626 points. Terry LaMar and Jack Lents posted a net 70, earning them 36 points, and pulled to within two points of the top at 624 points. With three weeks remaining in the season, fifteen teams are within 50 points of the top and very much still in contention for the championship. The competition in the individual race for the top is just as fierce with Jordan Divine gaining the hot seat at the top this week by posting a net 34 and earning 79 points. His season total of 1220 points gives him a 22 point lead on Dan Jones at 1198 points, and a 48 point lead on John Drake and Karry Stoll who are tied for third place at 1172 points.
Hager's 31, comprised of five birds, three pars and a single bogey, was the low gross score of the day. Jake Divine used an even par round of 35 to net 28 for the low net score. Bryant Trambaugh and Mike Breeden shot the low net team score with a 63. Hole prizes were won by Jon Boyd, James Hager and Jack Lents on close to the pin shots at the par threes. Scott Arthur, Terry LaMar and Kent Summers sank long putts for their hole prizes. The group's average gross score of 41.66 was a quarter stroke higher than last week's 41.42.
Of note: Alan Burch's one under round of 34 could have been a whole lot better. He had four birds to go along with four pars and a single triple bogey at hole number 7. Ryan Johnson's eagle at #4 was the only eagle on the day in a year where eagles have come along very sparingly. Tuesday's evening play was delayed by 30 minutes when a storm passed through the area leaving some much needed rain.

Mike Anderson Update
Received the following from Mike's wife Carol:
"...GREAT NEWS TODAY, Mike.................Mike is off the ventilator, and very much back with us!! He's talking to us, knows all of us, remembers dates, is already swinging his arms(I asked him if he was getting ready to tee off, and he said "YES!") - his memory seems to be very good, which is a real relief, because we were so afraid of brain damage. He's very tired, but won't relax to take a nap; he keeps asking questions, and answers everything we ask him - even remembers MY birthday!! Thank the Lakeview Family for all their prayers!! I know how anxious Mike is to be back with all of you!!..."
That's GRAND NEWS, Carol!

Tuesday Men - Come On Down!
Looks like another one of those near perfect days down here in southern Indiana. Take advantage of it by going low with your league round. Remember, 1st week of the 4 week, 36 hole flighted tournament. Also, time to make a move in the standings. Lots of teams and guys still very much in contention. At the moment, Tracy Rayhill and Greg Potts are sitting on top of the pile in team competition, and Dan Jones has the lead in individual competition. End of the day leaders?
Fairways are fast, greens are soft. Pack your A game along with your clubs and come on out and have a bit of fun chasing the little white ball around the greensward.

Community League Event 11 Recap
In the Community League's flighted torunament, Ken Wagler fired a second straight 33, the week's low gross, to take a four stroke lead into the final week. Short Jeffers posted a 34 to stay relatively close. In the B Flight, Emanuel Wagler's 39 kept him two strokes up on Jeremy Graber, who posted a 36 to climb from fourth place a week ago. Richard Yoder and Larry Wininger, remained tied at the top of C Flight as they each posted 44's. In the regular season, Emanuel Wagler and Adrian Graber wrapped up the top spot in the team standings with a net 67 and 20 points on the week. That gave them a total of 200 points and a 32 point lead over the second place team of Richard Yoder and Dale Yoder with only one week to go. Clint Knepp and Rob Graber fired the low team net round of the week, a 63, and moved into third place at 163 points, one point in front of Ken Wagler and Jeremy Graber. In the much tighter individual competition, Adrian Graber shot a net 32 on an even par round of 35 and leads the pack at 369 points. He has a thirteen point lead over team partner Emanuel Wagler, who earned 20 points on a net score of 35. Rob Graber, who had the low net round of the week at 29 on a gross of 36, earned 50 points and is 18 points from the top. Larry Wininger is in fourth place at 350 points after shooting a net 34 and earning 28 points on the week. The group had an average gross score of 41.62, down from the 41,93 of a week ago.
Of note: Ken Wagler's successive 33's dropped his handicap to an even zero, scratch, making him the first Community League player to do so this season. Rob Graber's 36 was a new career low.

Butcher and Hudson Dominate Byron and Bowling, Win Team Championship
Jack Butcher and Rex Hudson on the 9th green at Lakeview after winning their match with Pam Byron and Patty Bowling and becoming the team champions in the Thursday Match Play League. Photo by Mike Bird.
The final day of team competition for the Thursday Match Play League 2011 season gave the #2 team a chance to go head to head against the #1 team. This year that put Pam Byron and Patty Bowling, the #1 team, up against the #2 team of Jack Butcher and Rex Hudson. The top team had to be the favorites since they enjoyed a 12 point lead in the standings and only 14 points available in the match. That turned out to be a half point too little as the Butcher/Hudson team completely dominated the action and finished the day with 12.5 points in the match and the championship trophy in their hands. Butcher and Hudson, each with net 33's, shot a four under par net round while the Byron/Bowling team stumbled to a plus 7 on the day. The third place team at the start of the day, Jack Lents and Mike Bird, also had trouble in their match with the fourth place team, falling to Ed Summers and Dane Mosby by a score of 10 to 4. That gave Summers and Mosby third place for the season with Lents and Bird falling to fourth. Dick Barber and John Chapman also moved up in the standings with a 10.5 to 3.5 match win over Mike McLaughlin and Leroy Allbright. Complete match results and final team standings can be found at golflakeview.com.
In the individual competition, Butcher also moved to the top of the standings. His gross 38 and net 33 earned him 49 points and gives him a season total of 608 points. Dick Lemmon posted a gross 40, a net 32, earned 57 points and sits in second place at 599 points. Last week's leaders, Dave Brown and Jack Lents, each shot net 36's and find themselves tied for third place with 596 points. Al Kavanaugh had the low gross of the day with an even par round of 35. Dave Strange's net 30 was the low net. Dick Barber and John Chapman combined to shoot the low team net of 65. Hole prize winners were Junior Byron with the longest putt at #8, and Mike McLaughlin and Dick Lemmon with close to the pin shots at #7 and #9 respectively. As a whole, the group average gross this week was an even 45, up just about a full stroke from last week's 44.06.
Coming up: The 36 hole individual flighted tournament starts next week with Al Kavanaugh as the #1 seed in the A Flight, Leroy Allbright #1 in B Flight, Dave Brown #1 in C Flight, Rex Hudson #1 in D Flight and Vic Wallace the #1 in E Flight.

TMPL Results for Event 18
This morning's league results are posted here. Congrats to Jack Butcher and Rex Hudson for their victory over Pam Byron and Patty Bowling. They needed 12 out of 14 points to win the championship and that is exactly what they did, losing only holes 3 and 6 to the ladies in the match portion and dominating the low net by a score of 66 to 79.
Flighted tournament starts next week and I'll post the flights later today.

Thursday Leaguers - Time to Play!
Btw, we start at 9 this morning - you all probably figured that out without a call from Pam yesterday.
Marquee match-up this morning is the Pam Byron/Patty Bowling tiff with Jack Butcher and Rex Hudson. They will duke it out for first place although there is a third contender that could slip by both of those teams if the numbers come out right. That would be the Jack Lents/Mike Bird team. They need to take care of their own battle before thinking of the one right behind them. Dane Mosby and Ed Summers take them on and will do their best to spoil their chances. All the matches and the starting holes can be seen here.
This is the final day of team play. Next week we start the final four weeks of the regular season with the 36 hole individual flighted tournament. Should have the flights all figured out by the end of the day.
Pack your bags and come on out - the party is just about to begin. Bring your A game and plan on having some fun.

Tuesday Men's League Recap Event 17
More new guys at the top of the team standings in the Tuesday Men's League. Tracy Rayhill and Greg Potts came out of yesterday's play with a net 70 that earned them 29 points and the seat at the top. Last week's leaders, Dan Jones and Lonnie Hawkins, had a terrible day, shooting a net 80 and garnering only 2 points. Rayhill and Potts, with a total of 604 points, lead Curt Johnson and Tyler Walton by 12 points. Johnson and Walton were another team that did not fare very well, posting a net 72 with a gain of only 13 points. The third place team of Terry LaMar and Jack Lents had a very good day, posting a net 65, collecting 53 points and now are within 16 points of the leaders. Dan Jones did stay at the top in the individual standings with a total of 1168 points though his competition moved much closer. Jordan Divine, after shooting a gross 38, a net 34 and getting 74 points, moved to second place, 27 points behind Jones. John Drake is in third at 1128 points after a net 35 on the day and a gain of 52 points. One of the big movers was Wayne Souerdike who shot a gross 38, a net 32 and collected 98 points. He sits in fourth place, 96 points away from the lead position. Low scores for the day were: Don Nolan and Tom Trambaugh both shot net 28's to tie for low net; Short Jeffers, with three birdies and six pars, had the low gross of 32; and Dennis Brosmer and Tom Trambaugh had the low net team score, a sterling 58. TJ McAtee won the special hole prize at #2 with a shot from the tee box that settled five feet from the pin. He beat out 36 other players who were part of the competition. Regular hole prize winners were Derek Gilbertson, Tom Walker and Charlie Lyon with close to the pin shots; and Jon Boyd, Dan Jones and Terry Butcher with long putts. The groups average gross score for the week was 41.42, down slightly from last week's 41.80.
Of note: Charlie Lyon dropped in an eagle at hole #1 and Josh Hawkins had one at #6. Dave Wininger joined Short Jeffers in getting three birds on the day. TJ McAtee is making a habit of collecting hole prizes; this makes four out of the last five weeks he has had his name among the winners.
