Notes on Tuesday Men's League Play

Dave Wininger used three consecutive birdies (holes 2, 3 and 4), a host of pars and a single bogey to post a 33 on the fourth day of the Flighted Tournament.  That gave him a 36 hole total of one under par (139) and the A+ championship.  Mike Kidwell, the leader by one at the start of the day's play, posted a 37 and finished second at two over par.  In flights B through D, the leaders after three rounds prevailed: Terry Butcher in A Flight posted a 38 and a +8 for the tournament for the top spot, besting Terry Padgett's +11 in second place.  In B Flight, Greg Potts left no doubt that he intended to stay at the top by firing an early even par round of 35; that gave him a total of +7 for the tournament and an eight stroke victory over Terry LaMar and Steven Downey.  Larry Sutton carded a 39 that gave him a total of +15 and a four stroke victory over Mike Breeden in the C Flight.  In D Flight, Brent Courter finished in grand style with a nifty 38 and a +21 that gave him a four stroke margin over second place finisher Tim Voegerl.  In E Flight, Charlie Sheetz limped in with a 57 on the day and a total of +64 but was the only one standing at the end of play in his flight.

Low scores for the day were posted by Scott Arthur and Dennis Brosmer with net 26's; by Dave Wininger with a gross 33; and by the team of Tom Trambaugh and Dennis Brosmer with a team low net of 62.  Hole prizes were taken by Doug Denson, Mike Breeden and Dave Wininger at the par 3's, and by George Templin, Rob Rollins and Gary LaMar with long putts.  In team competition, the Courter/Sutton team, along with the Padgett/Padgett team made the biggest leaps on the day, scoring 54 and 44 points to close in on the Johnson/Parker team.  Johnson and Parker still lead at 628 points, a 17 point margin over Rollins and Harmon, and Courter and Sutton.  Bric Parker posted a nifty 40 for his day's work, scored 87 points and expanded his lead in the individual competition.  Group average gross for the day was 41.16, down about a half a stroke from last week's 41.62.
