In spite of a family emergency which sent one of the players home after five holes, Tony Wease and Charlie Sheetz (and a friendly 'ghost' substitute) survived a match that was tied after nine holes. Leroy Streepy's errant shots on the one extra hole (costing him three strokes) and a very nifty pitch to five feet and then a putt for bogey by Tony Wease (his second shot found the water) gave the hole, the match and the trophy for the Thursday July Match Play Tournament to the Wease/Sheetz team. Dick Lemmon and Leroy Streepy, playing for the Course team, put up a gallent fight but could not survive the overtime.
