Bits and Pieces: Wininger and Allen Take Saturday Scramble, Lions Win Volleyball Sectional, Tseng Wins, Irish Lose

-Joe Allen and some of the other guys wrapping it up after the Saturday Morning Scramble.  Joe and Dave Wininger edged the team of Greg Potts and Wayne Souerdike and the team of Mike Bird, Curt Johnson and Kevin Byron by a stroke.  The victors had three birds and a bogey to finish with a 33 while the vanguished each had two birds and a bogey.

-The Loogootee Lions won the volleyball sectional last night at JBA in convincing fashion with a score of three games to one against the #1 ranked Barr Reeve Vikings.  Earlier in the day, the Lions dispatched the North Daviess Cougars while the Vikings beat the Shoals Jugrox.

-The most dominant golfer in the world right now, Yani Tseng, hoisted another trophy when she blew away the competition with a six birdie, no bogey final round of 66 at the Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship.  Her final score of 16 under par topped Amy Yang and Azahara Munoz who finished tied for second at -11.  The win was her seventh of the year.

-Came home after the volleyball game to the Irish/Southern Cal game with the Irish down by 14 points.  They did come back and were driving for the tying touchdown when Dayne Crist fumbled the snap way down in Trojan territory - it was returned for an 80 yard touchdown by the bad guys.  Dagger in the heart.  They did come back again to score a touchdown to give Irish fans hope but then lost the ball again on a errant backward pass.  Final score was 31-17 in a game dominated by the Trojans both on offense and defense.  Ouch.

-Temps up near 70 today.  Now if we can get the showers to go somewhere else...
