Bits and Pieces

-Darrah Holder, the very good North Daviess lady golfer, took her skills to the State level yesterday.  She shot a 91 and failed to make the cut at The Legends in Franklin.  Nonetheless quite an achievement for the young lady.  She expects to play golf on the collegiate level and has scholarship offers. Congrats, Darrah.

-Brent Kelley makes the case for Luke Donald as the PGA's POY.  Can you think of a better choice?  Can you think of four golfers who should be in the running?  Talk about the lack of a dominant player...

-Good 'epilogue' of the Solheim Cup from Hound Dog here.  It's not Ryann O'Toole's fault - she lost the last two holes of her match with Caroline Hedwell that sealed the victory for the Euros; rather, she was one of the stars for the USA team.  I did wonder about the final day pairings and especially with Michelle Wie going out against Suzann Pettersen and Cristie Kerr up against Karen Stupples.  Wie held her own with the #2 women's player in the world actually leading the match late before falling when Pettersen closed with three brilliant birdies.  Good stuff.  One note for future play:  Bring in an Asian team since the majority of the world's elite come from that side of the globe.

-Notre Dame Irish go up against the Purdue Boilermakers this evening.  Know Wayne Pearl is rooting for the Black and Gold.  Expect he'll be up at the game.

-North Daviess Cougars played down in Oakland City last night against Wood Memorial and won 67-3.  Will have to get some of the details from Eric - easy win.

-Just talked with Eric.  He says it's cool and windy out there - glad to see the sun coming up.  He also said our local cat, the white one with brown spots that's been out there for the last several weeks patrolling the sides of the dam, bit into one of the battery charger cables and didn't survive.  Freaky.  Also had a young man roll off the road up there by #1 and down into the ditch along the fairway - well, he didn't get that far - last night around six.  No injuries and I was able to pull him out of the ditch with the Jeep.

-Need to get on the road and over to the golf course.  Scramble at 9.  Bring a sweater.
