At the three quarter mark of the Individual Flighted Tournament, Terry LaMar has slipped into first place in the B Flight with a round of 38 and a 27 hole total of 120. He lead's last week's leader, Tony Wease, by a single stroke and Dave Brown by three in the closest of the five competitions. In the A Flight, Junior Byron carded an even par round of 35 that included a little magic at #2, the group's 7th hole of the day. After hitting three errant shots, Junior stared down a downhill chip shot from 30' and knocked it home for an unusual par. He finished the day with a five stroke lead in his flight and a score of 108 for the tournament. In C Flight, Jim Bateman shot a second consecutive 43, ended the day at 126, and has a three stroke advantage over Ken Hudson heading into the final nine holes of play. In D Flight, Pam Byron, with a 44 on the day and a tournament total of 144, shot six strokes better than the first two rounds and has opened up an eight stroke lead over Charlie Sheetz. Wilma Bateman in E Flight also had a super round, firing a 46 and sports a 30 stroke lead over Clyde Wake.
With one week to go in the season, Jim Bateman has an almost insurmountable lead of 29 points over Dave Brown in second place, and 39 points over Al Kavanaugh in third. Low scores for the day were carded by Wilma Bateman with a super net score of minus eight, and by Junior Byron with an even par gross 35. Hole prizes were claimed by Dick Lemmon at #7, Terry LaMar at #8, and Dave Brown at #9. Group average for the day was 43.64, down more than a stroke from last week's 45.00.
Of note: The third of the three women playing in the league, Susan Fee, also had a pretty good day at the golf course. After seven holes, she was even par for the day and in sight of her first par round ever. It wasn't meant to be when she finished with three extra shots on the last two holes but she still carded a super round of 39.
