Bits and Pieces

-Tuesday Men's League have another day of clouds and possible rain.  Let's see if we can successfully dodge the raindrops again today.  On the agenda:
-4th and final nine holes of the Team Handicapped Tournament.  John Walker and Skip Ackerman currently have the lead at minus 8 but several teams remain within striking distance.
-2nd week of the May Challenge.  Participants have to get in their scramble from the first week and then tackle individual stroke play today (both net scores count as team score).  The fourth part of the game, alternate shot, must be completed by next Tuesday.
-Event 6 with 6 hole prizes.

-We got a quick 3/4's of an inch late yesterday afternoon that sent several of us running for cover.

-Lousy golfer joke from Frank Fee:
I told my friend ...

This morning I waded across a raging river, escaped from a bear in the woods,
marched up and down a mountain, stood in a patch of poison ivy, crawled out
of quicksand, and climbed up an enormous tree! ...

My friend said, " You must be some outdoorsman!"

"No," I replied, "I'm just a lousy golfer."
Hmmm.  We've got rising water, wild geese attacking from every which way, ticks, poison ivy but no enormous trees.  And, I expect, each of us has had issues with each of them.  But, please, the appropriate label is good golfer gone a bit astray.  Right?

-Golf tip for the day:  On the approach shot:  Make a good decision on club choice, commit to your swing, execute with a rhythmic movement that hits the ball squarely.  Simple, right?  Now stop thinking about and just do it.
