Yesterday's event 4 for the Tuesday Men was held without incident! Though the skies were overcast all day and the nasty little gnats were out and about, players in the Tuesday League were able to get out and get their rounds in on their appointed day for the first time in three weeks. With the completion of play last night, the books were also closed on events 2 and 3. Complete scores and standings can be found here. Some comments:
The 36 hole Team Handicapped Tournament is 18 holes down with 18 to go. Leaders at the midpoint are TJ McAtee and Alan Burch with a score of -7. They are followed closely by 1st round leaders Tom Walker and Mike Bird at -6, Tracy Rayhill and Greg Potts at -5 and John Walker and Skip Ackerman at -4. Twelve teams are within ten strokes of the low score though the final winner may well come from a team even further down in the standings at the moment. I say that because of the unusually weather related high scores posted by many players over the last three weeks and the resultant inflated handicaps. Expect players to start firing rounds that are much more typical in the next few weeks.
Highlights from yesterday's golfing included a 36 by Tracy Rayhill, a score which tied him for low gross with Dave Wininger and Short Jeffers, and also gave him the low net for the day, a 27. Rayhill and Bric Parker turned in the low net team score, a nifty 62. Terry Butcher almost holed out his shot at #7, leaving it three inches shy of dropping into the hole for an ace. The shot gave him one of the six hole prizes on the day. The others: Bric Parker and Mitch Jeffers with close to the pin shots, and Paul Hart, John Walker and Skip Ackerman with long putts. After four events, John Walker and Skip Ackerman hold a slight two point lead in the team standings over the teams of Jake Divine and Brandon Inman and Jordan Divine and Mitch Jeffers. Jordan Divine holds a 23 point lead in the individual standings over second place Skip Ackerman. Jake Divine, Brandon Inman and Dan Jones are third through fifth in the standings.
Low scorers for events two and three include low gross 36's by Dave Wininger and James Hager in event 2 and a 34 by Mark Potts in event three. Low net for the two events belonged to Noah Callahan and Jordan Divine with 32's in event 2, and Bill Carrico's 30 in event 3. Team low nets for the two events were posted by Jordan Divine and Mitch Jeffers (68) in the second event and by Tom Walker and Mike Bird (66) in the third event.
Coming up next week: Round three of the Team Handicapped Tournament and the start of the two week, four event mixed league May Challenge. Teams wishing to participate in the May Challenge need to sign up in advance of next Tuesday's event 5 of the regular season. Go here for more details on the May Challenge.
