Thursday Match Play League Results Event 4 Recap

Low scores for league players last Thursday were lead by Junior Byron's low gross 35 and by the low net scores of Vic Wallace (27) and Dave Brown (28).  Vic joined with partner Phil Roberts in garnering the low net team score of 59.  Junior Byron and Al Kavanaugh claimed the hole prizes at the par threes while Jack Lents rolled in the long putt of the day at the eighth hole.  Pam Byron and Patty Bowling remained at the top of the team standings, winning their match with Lee Wininger and Ray Shaw, 9 to 5.  Patty also remains on top of the individual standings with 195 points to Jack Butcher's 164.  John Chapman's 150 is good for third place.

In the Team Handicapped Tournament, the players finished their second nine holes with Tony Wease and Phil Hardwick vaulting to the lead with a round of 66 which gave them an 18 hole score of -4.  Rex Hudson and Jack Butcher also had a second nine score of 66 to tie Phil Roberts and Vic Wallace, with their sterling second nine score of 59, at -2 for second place.  Complete scores and standings can be found at golflakeview.com.

-After all the excitement of the event, six of the thirty-two league players continued on for a second nine in a game of skins and flags.  Jack Lents pretty much stole the show, starting things off by missing a very short putt on two to give Tony Wease the first skin.  He then putted one in from just off the green at #3 and chipped another in on #4 for skins of his own.  After Mike Bird rolled in a birdie putt on #5 for the fourth skin in four holes, Jack claimed two flags with the closest to the pin shot at #7.  Mike Bird closed out the scoring with a close to the pin shot of his own on #9 though Phil Hardwick made a nifty little four foot putt on the last hole to keep his buddy and league playing partner, Tony Wease, from getting a second skin.

Reminder: May Challenge starts next week.
