-Community League gets underway this week. As of right now, there are six teams signed up for the League (registration continues throughout the week). Players have till Saturday evening to get their event 1 round into the books. By default, Tim Sanders and Chris Jones win the preseason scramble as they were the only team to come out and get a score in (during week 1).
-The Tuesday Men and Thursday Match combined gross averages (posted earlier today) through four events show 24 players under 40, 32 players between 40 and 44, 21 between 45 and 49, and 7 between 50 and 53. Note that those players who play in both leagues have both their averages posted (Byron, Bird, LaMar, Harper, Breeden).
-Surprising stat: Only one eagle so far in league play - Kevin Johnson at #6 during event 1. There out there, just need to be picked up.
-Rules reminder: Remember if you hit one out of bounds, you take a penalty stroke and rehit from the same place. Example: Tee shot on #5 goes into the pasture to the right; tee up another ball and you're hitting your third shot. If you are unsure whether your ball went out of bounds, hit a provisional (which would be your third stroke) and then go see if your ball stayed in play. Hopefully you find your first ball in play and go on and hit your second shot.
-Rules reminder 2: We play winter rules which allows you to move your ball a card length. (Have heard some people say a club length but that's for scramble play, not individual stroke play.)
-League round of the week: Kevin Johnson's 33 on Tuesday night which included three birds, five pars and one bogey.
-League net rounds of the week: Terry LaMar and Dick Lemmon each shot 31's on Thursday morning.
-League team net round of the week: Terry Butcher and Rob Sterling with a 64 on Tuesday afternoon.
-League not-happy-I-did-that award for the week: Jack Lents' three triple bogeys in a row after starting his Thursday round with a nifty par at #9 (he also pocketed one of my quarters on that first hole with a flag).
-This week, along with the opening of the Community League: Week three of the Team Handicapped Tournament for Tuesday Men (leader: Butcher and Sterling at ten under) and Thursday Match (leader: Wease and Sheetz at five under).
