Another great day for golf! Sunny with temps 67 degrees when we start and 77 degrees when we finish.
Our leaders as we start the day are Frank and Susan Fee in the team competition with a slim one and a half point lead over Ken Hudson and Junior Byron. They go out head-to-head this morning so an opportunity for one or the other to open up some distance at the top. Lurking five points from the top is the team of Jack Butcher and Rex Hudson who pair up with Dick Lemmon and Dave Brown today; Dick and Dave are in fourth place and looking to get closer to the top - they are eight and a half points back.
In individual competition, Charlie Sheetz is riding high at 142 points and has a one shot lead on Dave Strange, our super sub, who has been representing the Elliott team so far this year.
In the Team Handicapped Tournament, Tony Wease and Charlie Sheetz have a four stroke lead over Virgil Harper and Terry LaMar and a ten stroke lead over our Home team (those guys who consistently shoot 35's when they get together). This is the fourth and final week of the tournament.
Of note: During competition a year ago, Junior Byron shot the low gross with a 37, JD Faris had the low net with a 26 (!), and JD along with Ken Hudson had the low net team score, a low, low, low 59. Jack Butcher and Rex Hudson ended the day on top of the team standings and Jack also had the top spot in the individual standings.
Tip for the day: Know your distance, pick a club that will do the job, make a good swing. That would be D-C-S: Distance - Club - Swing. Simple stuff, right? Right. Oh, and don't forget to warm up the most important stick in your bag, the putter.
See a lot of you out there in a little bit.
