It's May 1st and we start our first tournament of the year - 36 holes (4 weeks), team handicapped tournament. The team with the low team net score over the 36 holes is the champion. Last year's winning team: John Walker and Skip Ackerman with a 15 under par 265. Danny Jones and Lonnie Hawkins were two back and took second place.
Current leaders: Tom McAtee and John Drake in the team competition and Noah Callahan in the individual competition.
Weather: Scattered showers expected, especially this afternoon. Let's see if we get lucky and can play around them.
Course conditions: Excellent - the rains of the last three days have helped a bunch. Still plenty of roll in the fairways.
Notes:
-League member Stan Graber got himself an ace on Sunday. Too bad he couldn't have waited two days - there is a prize for hole-in-ones in league play ($25). Anybody up for it today? (I'ld like one on #7.)
-Tom McAtee was out practicing his short game before the rains late yesterday afternoon. The Byrons, Junior, Kevin and Pam, tried to do the same after dinner and got caught in the unexpected second downpour.
-Three players chose the early play option this week.
